I feel ok with my blender. Its nice... but I'm not blown away. It seems to blend the bottom real well. But then it gets the top layer stuck, and i have to use the tapper to get it to blend. I am disappointed, as my ninja can do the same thing. I bought it to blend smoothies and to blend up cashews for dairy free creams, sauces, etc. I haven't yet tried my cashews in this blender, since the performance with my daily smoothies is comparable to my ninja, i assume the cashews will blend the same as well. I'll update my review, if I am able to, after trying it with cashews. So, its ok, its nice, but not a huge major difference in end results, and must use the tapper alot.

Then it’s a very expensive and useless appliance. Gave our kitchenAid to our son when we purchased the Vitamix. kitchenAid was over 18 years old when we gave it to him 8 years ago. He’s in college, an athlete (swimmer), make protein shakes every day with that OLD RELIABLE MIXER. Our Vitamix died today - just stopped, mid smoothie making. Called my son, he laughed while he was mixing a shake with the old KitchenAid.
Pros: Versatility

Hi there! If your Vitamix shut down while you were blending, it is likely it temporarily overheated. Sometimes the machine may emit a burning odor and/or stop temporarily because its thermal protector sensed that the machine was close to overheating. If this occurs, we recommend turning the power switch off for up to 45 minutes, allowing the machine to cool down or reset. To avoid overheating your machine in the future, be sure to ramp the machine up to the highest speed within five seconds of turning it on to activate the cooling fan in the motor. If you have not done so already, please try to power your Vitamix on today to see if it has regained power.
If your machine is still without power, please reach out at either 1-800-848-269 or service@vitamix.com.
I bought my Vitamix a couple months ago and think it is better than a cheap blender for most tasks. I would prefer more power for fine textured smoothies and do not like having to buy a seperate container for dry grinding.
I watched recipe videos on YouTube and read the starter guide and found quite a few recipes amazing. But tonight I tried to make but butter and my vitamix suddenly just slowed and died. Now it won’t turn back on. Help!?

It’s ok, didn’t have power for blending a lot of things well, including hummus. I wish the company would either make a home machine that had more horse power or make the vita-prep 3 compatible with multiple containers. Since I don’t love the plastic. When blending hard materials I already saw dents, plus tritan plastic seems controversial. Also a vacuum blender would be nice because it is true, this blender very much oxidizes some mixtures.

Great blender but they don't make a food processor

I got a 5200 and I love the blender. It does what it needs to. But I have a small space and I don't want to have multiple things on my counters and they don't make a food processor attachment for this one.
When I first received the unit after waiting for it to ship for a longer than acceptable period, I was surprised to see how cheaply constructed it appeared to be. The container is plastic - not what I expected for $500.
That said I have been overall happy with it. The design of the container is nice for mixing and the plunger it comes (also plastic) has really improved the quality of my mixing.
I only have used it to make smoothie/protein drinks and it has worked like a champ in mixing quickly and efficiently. I usually put a good amount of kale in these smoothies. In my old blender, I would get large chunks of kale in the smoothie but with this blender (and using the plunger) the kale is pulverized and completely integrated into my drink which I really like.
