I love the Vitamix blender I'm only giving it 2 stars because when trying to puree my mom's soup it consistently overheats and shuts off. Soup is carrots, celery, onions, rice, chicken, and broth only. Otherwise it works the best for nut milks and smoothies
The machine is not working well. I followed the instruction but the smoothie is very coarse. With the green grape, I can even find lots of grape skin in the smoothie. With frozen berries, there are also big grains left in the smoothie.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I love all of the features of vitamix and think it's a superior blender, but am disappointed that they still haven't moved to glass, particularly after all of the research out now about plastics (even BPA-Free plastic isn't safe). Wish they would update their product!
Pros: Speed of Service, Texture Quality, Easy to use, Product features, Power
There is no question that the 5200 is a powerful blender. It's definitely a step up for our smoothies; it pulverizes anything, even seeds, and produces a smooth texture that is a pleasure to drink. What we wonder about is the tamper, and the need for it. Maybe it's a carafe design thing?
Our previous blender (mid-level Breville star performer) had an ingenious bowl-shaped carafe. This kept air pockets from forming. You never (hardly ever) had to stop the blending to expel the air pocket around the blades.
With the 5200, despite the narrow, squared carafe bottom, we are constantly fighting the development of the air pocket around the blades. We use the tamper, which is smartly designed to never touch the blades, all the time.
But even that often doesn't work, and the air pocket forms again instantly. Are we doing something wrong? We've added more liquid, less solids. We've varied the way we increase the blending speed, quickly or slowly, and still: the air pocket forms around the blades and only the bottom part of the smoothie gets blended until we jam away at it with the tamper.
(Plus, the unit should come with a Tamper Holder, so the tamper is not just laying on the counter when not in use. Why not?)
So, we fight the air pocket every time (why?), and we struggle to find a place to store the tamper, but other than that we're making some excellent smoothies, and the 5200 is a powerful and capable blender!
Pros: Texture Quality, Durability, Power

I've had my Super 5200 since 2008, when very few people had even heard of Vitamix. It's been my constant culinary companion for nearly 17 years and I still use it 2-3 times a week. I own several containers for both wet and dry use and they're all holding up well. I've never really had a problem with any Vitamix product. I've considered upgrading to a newer model with more features several times, but simply cannot justify it with my 5200 still performing flawlessly. Thanks, Vitamix.
Pros: Texture Quality, Durability, Easy to use, Versatility, Product features, Power
Its amazing! I love all details of the Vitamix 5200. The one thing i would change is i would make it lock in place because my blender came up once and grinded metal off the motor. Love love love otherwise!!!!!!
Pros: Programability, Speed of Service, Texture Quality, Durability, Easy to use, Versatility, Recipe Enhancement, Product features, Power

1/2 I bought a Vita-Mix Super 5000 about 12 or 13 years ago. I have always try to buy the best for my family. And after falling victim of this late night informacials, that want to convince you that their products are good for you, go as far as to insult your intelligence. They plant the seed of doubt in you system in such a way, so as to compromise your ability to turn a (rehostat) or as it's called, a speed selector to adjust the right texture for your specific need. They continue to talk in circles until they convince you to buy. But I learned my lesson and this time followed my intelligence and good instincts, and that is when I bought this monster of a machine. The Vita Mix super 5000. (Go to 2/2)
Pros: Programability, Speed of Service, Texture Quality, Durability, Easy to use, Versatility, Product features, Power
We bought our Vitamax 5200 three months ago and couldn't be happier. The machine is a little intimidating at first, but once you get comfortable with it, it's super easy to use and lives up to the hype about its performance capabilities. I use it nearly every morning to make smoothies, and the best part is that it's so easy to clean. Just some water, a few drops of soap and the blender does the hard part.
Would recommend this model to anyone.
Pros: Healthy lifestyle, Functional, High quality, Long lasting, Durable, Easy to use, Blend quality
