This brand is very expensive!!…. but it WORKS!! Really really well. I had bought a much less expensive, different brand that said it did just as good and would make things smooth and all that marketing stuff, BUT it did not work well and in less than 6 weeks it stopped working. That money was down the drain and it never really did what I needed. THIS VITAMIX is worth EVERY penny!!!
I have a rare condition call Achalasia. My esophagus no longer moves food down into my stomach. So what I eat must be in a puréed or fine chop in sauces or gravy’s. If not, the food gets stuck midway down my esophagus and that can be painful and causes violent regurgitation and that food never reaches my stomach. I’ve lost 45+lbs. It’s been a rough year to say the least! I’m still figuring it all out, but getting this unit and getting recipes from vitamix has helped me find my new way of eating, for survival, as well as helping me to make things that are puréed but taste good so I can enjoy food again. Thank you Vitamix, thank you for the recipes, thank you for a machine that works really really well and gives me opportunities to create a meal that I can look forward to eating. This unit is not just a smoothie maker. It’s my life line.
If you are someone with swallowing issues and need puréed foods…. DO NOT HESITATE!!!…To invest in a vitamix!! It will make your life easier!!! It will give you options that other blenders can’t give you! It can be your life saver.

We had this model before for 10 years. It worked great and finally wore out. We bought this same model and it does not operate near as well as the old one. It is like there is now a “clutch” of some sort and it sounds horrible and just does not blend as well.

I had previously owned a refurbished 5200 Vitamix for 13 years that I recently got rid of because the motor was finally going out. I thought I would treat myself to a brand new model since my refurbished one had been so great for so many years, surely a brand new one would be even better. Not the case at all. Vitamix quality is NOT what it used to be. I could immediately tell the quality had changed when I removed the first piece from the box, which was the tamper. It felt cheap and light. Then when I took the rest out, more specifically the base, I knew it wouldn’t be a good experience. Everything felt cheaper and lighter, not heavy duty like it used to be. When I turned it on to make a smoothie, the base rattled and vibrated all the way across the counter. I had never experienced that with my old Vitamix because the base used to be heavy. Don't get me started on how LOUD and high pitched it was. On top of that, the blender shut off before I could finish blending my smoothie and it left it so chunky that I needed to dump it because it wouldn't turn back on and I needed to leave for work. Needless to say I returned this blender and bought the Brevelle Super Q. Much better quality, much better results. For the same price, and better quality, choose the Brevelle Super Q.

Hi, we are sorry to hear of your experience. We would have loved to troubleshoot the machine and assist you with it. You can expect the same quality blend as you did with you old one, however you may have had to adjust how you blend a little. As technology changes some of our components do too. It is important to remember that all full-size Vitamix blenders are equipped with either a 2 or 2.2 horsepower motor, which moves the blades in the container at a high speed to pulverize the ingredients completely. On occasion during blending, especially with thicker mixtures like hummus, frozen desserts and nut butters, you may experience some excess movement/vibration from the motor base on your countertop. This is a result of the machine trying to move the blades through such a dense recipe at the same high speeds.
When this happens, the best thing to do is to first make sure you have your blender on the highest speed setting featured on that unit. Next, place your hand firmly on the lid of your container to steady it while you use your tamper to work the ingredients through the blades. This will help to create an easier flow of the ingredients in the container, which will also help to lessen the vibration. Please keep in mind that certain ingredients and recipes are thick or denser in nature, and some movement while blending is normal.

We had an 18 year old Vitamix that we loved! I died a few months ago. Of course, we bought another Vitamix. However, we are having it shipped into to be looked at less than 9 months after buying it. It has a burning smell when using it, and it overheats when making things like black bean dip (using canned black beans). I thought the burning smell was due to it being new, but there continues to be a faint aroma. We purposely bought the more "basic" machine so that it would last longer. We have learned the things with more bells and whistles tend to break quicker. I am so incredibly disappointed in my new Vitamix. I don't understand how you can mess up such a good thing!

To avoid overheating your machine in the future, be sure to ramp the machine up to the highest speed within five seconds of turning it on to activate the cooling fan in the motor. This will also give you the best blend in the quickest time. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love it!! I use it every day since I had received it as a Birthday gift from my husband several months ago. I make green, fruit, & kefir smoothies. Some days I make two or three different types of smoothies. Also made soups, sesame tahini {ingredient in Hummus}, and Almond butter. I'm looking forward to making many other things to enhance my familys health and food we eat. I feel good about the increased nutritional availability and digestibility of foods I make in it. 5200 is well thought out as far as how it works & materials used, such as the carafe being light weight food safe plastic. It's not heavy, cumbersome and more likely to break as glass. In the past I had a different brand blender which had a heavy glass carafe I found the glass to be more cumbersome and awkward to use. The plastic Vitamix carafe is easier to handle and clean. The pour spout is well shaped foods pour well and go right into whatever container I am pouring into, in my case it's mostly Ball Mason Jars. I also like the simplicity of this machine, and the fact that it's not digital. I did major studying before I chose 5200. I had read this was a favorite model of Americas test kitchen {TV show}. And I noticed one of my favorite TV chefs, Rick Bayless has this model I spotted the 5200 in his Chicago kitchen while watching his show. Additionally, I read countless reviews until my eyes burned. All my research seems to have paid off because I love my 5200.

I used my Vitamix EVERYDAY! For breakfast, I blend a lemon or orange with 4 glasses of water; green smoothie for lunch, and salad dressing for dinner! It blends chia seeds, celery and leafy greens like kale and collards and frozen fruits like bananas, nice and smooth! We are vegans and I am raw vegan and the Vitamix has really enhanced our lifestyle! East to clean too! I wish we purchased it years ago! A standard blender does not compare! At first we were surprised that the container was plastic and not glass but after using it we were impressed and very satisfied! We highly recommend it to people who make green smoothies and dressings! A+!
