Have loved my original Vitamix (same model) for years! I decided to replace it because my original canister seemed to be wobbling on the base. But the new unit seems less powerful? Not sure how this could be, but we have compared side to side a few times and this new base doesn’t blend up quite as well as my 10+ year old one. A bit disappointed in this unit.

This is my first vitamix. I would say it is far superior to my last high power blender which was a dash. Its power is awesome, I’ve ground flour, made smoothies, hummus and salsa so far. It has blended everything with ease, compared to my dash which would sometimes seem to struggle blending thicker things. I look forward to trying other recipes.

I'll keep this short. Don't buy the current 5200. The motor is not high quality like prior years. I've owned several including two 5200 (keep giving them away to family) since late 70s. It 'walks' on the counter and sounds like the motor is grinding, not the smooth loud hum I'm used to hearing.

This is my first Vitamix, and it has DEFINITELY lived up to the hype. Fun and easy to use, and easy to clean EVEN for a person with a shallow sink (thanks to the fact that it’s basically self-cleaning!). The tamper comes in handy frequently, and the blender has only had trouble with the very thickest of mixes. We went from using our crappy old blender once every two weeks to using this literally twice a day.
