Upgraded from a Galaxy Watch 3
on November 14, 2024
Posted by: Sonoffun
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I switched from a Galaxy Watch 3 wifi to the Galaxy Watch 6 Sim. I miss the physical turn dial I had on my Galaxy Watch 3 as the screen is not nearly as responsive on my Galaxy 6 Watch. The sim option allows me to use my Watch without my phone present including calls, texts and maps, etc... some new features on the updated Watch 6 are also a welcomed addition.

Nice hardware, abysmally poor software.

Bought the Watch 7 44mm when it first got out. The design and HW are nice, but I am very disappointed with the poor quality of the software. Start with the fact that this is their latest watch and it's running software with a security patch from almost 6 months ago. That's embarrassing and unsafe to say the least. There was only one firmware update to this despite the myriad random bugs I encounter every day. The watch regularly freezes and restarts (once every few days), the HR readings are all over the place and potentially random, the sleep score/analysis is missing on some nights for no reason whatsoever (yes, the watch was tightly strapped to my wrist on fully charged). The "always on" setting might well have been removed because the screen will habitually go off regardless of where this setting is (again, healthy battery charge). To add insult to injury, the most valuable health features are artificially blocked unless you use a Samsung phone, which for me is one reason to never purchase one. I could go on about the problems and bugs but I think you get the point. Samsung's software execution is poor. Despite the nice looks and HW upgrades on the SoC side, I can't recommend this to any segment of users.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Seem like a great watch eventhough I would have preferred more options on the band. The quality is real good. Still trying to learn more about the features and stuff.

Find Phone, no longer an app.

Find Phone is now a system setting. If you drop your wrist to walk to the noise your phone is making in another room, it terminates the setting, silencing your phone.
Response from Samsung USBy Social CommerceNovember 18, 2024
Thanks for taking the time to reach out to us, Kolchak. Your feedback is greatly appreciated. We noticed your feedback about the Galaxy Watch7. When using the Fing My Phone feature, ensure that your Watch 7 is connected to your phone via Bluetooth or through a remote connection using Wi-Fi or LTE. To locate your phone, press the Home key on your watch, swipe to "Find My Phone," and tap "Start" to make your phone's ringtone sound, making it easier to find. Once you locate your phone, swipe down on the Dismiss icon or tap "Stop" on your watch to silence it. If you're unable to find your phone using the watch, you can also try using the SmartThings Find website. We'd like to gather some additional information regarding your experience so that we can provide the proper assistance. Please reach out to us at Samsung Support so that we can further assist you. -Kelvin
