I purchased this machine because I needed a larger amount of coffee often. This makes 14 cups. I was using a french press prior. I had to run vinegar and water through the machine at least ten times before I could get a cup of coffee that didn't taste like plastic and chemicals. That was a bad start! It's better now, but I am my brain is having trouble not thinking that I am drinking chemicals with my coffee. If I use it just to boil water for tea, it still tastes like plastic and chemicals to me so I need to purchase a tea pot which I was trying to avoid. I also do not like the spot where you add water. It is clumsy and I always end up with water still in the carafe. I thought purchasing a Cuisinart would be a long time purchase of quality, so I am very disappointed. I wish I could find a coffeemaker that does not use plastic parts. I came close to tossing this one in the trash. The glass french press is more work but you can depend on the taste. Coffee is expensive, and I wasted many pots of it, trying to get this to just taste OK, not great. I hate to write a bad review. I rarely do, but this is just not a worthwhile purchase.

We have had this coffee make for a month and are very pleased. It makes wonderful coffee and has good features such as the "bold" brew and 1-4 cup brewing.

I had a previous model for six years. This one is somewhat better in that it keeps my coffee hotter longer. I am a little hard of hearing now so I like this one with a better(louder ) beeper.
