Reliable and delicious coffee!

This coffee maker is easy to use and pretty to look at an I am delighted to have given myself the gift of easy delicious coffee. I usually drink French Press coffee, but I needed a way to make coffee with zero mess from coffee grounds. This machine brews delicious tasting coffee and the carafe keeps it nice and hot to the last drop. I also find it easy to clean which it also high priority when I shop for stuff like this.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My older Cusinart machine was still functioning when I bought this machine on sale. I am very glad bc this machine is more streamlined and trustworthy than my older machine. One feature I'm glad for is the water reservoir and grounds basket having a bit of separation between them. In my older machine, any infrequent failures during brewing, like a grounds overflow, would make a terrible mess in the water reservoir due to their close proximity ( under one lid) that would take a lot of cleaning and flushing to remedy. Not an issue with this design. I also think the metal vs glass carafe is great for cleaning without concern of broken glass in the metal sink during frequent, vigorous cleaning.
This has been a very welcome upgrade from our old drip machine—the coffee is really so much smoother (yet more caffeinated?). The dial does take a little getting used to, but it was second nature by the third day. The carafe keeps the coffee warm for hours without tasting burnt and bitter. I’m only knocking off one star because it did take several days for the strong chemical smell/taste to wear off, even with about 5 water-only cycles. But now that we’re past that we love it.
A good machine, but after owning for years and years, it’s really hard to clean well and is getting gross. Wish they could update with a removable water tank. A good machine. A good price. It gets yucky and can’t be cleaned well. We are moving on to another brand.
We've had our OXO unit for about 9 years - the carafe sensor (ensuring the carafe is placed correctly. before brew) just stopped working making the rest of unit worthless.
We've tried some magnet hacks and general resets (which worked a time or two) but now are not kicking anything into gear. This seems to be a common issue based on online available troubleshooting - but there are no replacement parts or other options beyond get a new one.
As many others have mentioned in the reviews, the coffee flavor is very bad because it is mixed with a chemical taste. It seems the rubber used inside is the cause.
