Amazing Value for Price

I bought this and had a carpenter install for me. It took him a little more than an hour and it holds all I had in the old white ventilated rod and shelf kit plus much more. The rod is amazing, so nice to have your clothes freely slide on it. The configuration options are many. I still have the entire top shelf available for holding containers, after putting all that was in the old closet configuration and space on the hanging rods as well. I will order more. Great product considering the price.

Accomplished what I wanted

My closet is 42 in wide and was always a mess, clothes cramped and wrinkled. Now it's well organized and more room. I'm going to do my other two closets.

Not exactly...

It would be great if the photos showed what closets look like in normal homes. I feel like I wasted a fair amount of money and a whole day of effort (install was easy, I also painted the interior of the closet first), and even though I don't like the product, I can't exactly pack the thing back up again to return it!
The top rail must be hung pretty close to the ceiling (86.5" from floor), which makes the vertical rails end 42" or so off the floor. You have to purchase extensions in order to hang shoe shelves, etc.. I want to hang upper & lower clothes rods, but the rod cups are pretty tall, taking up precious inches of vertical space, so I have the top rail quite high, and the lower rail at the lowest spot on the vertical rail, making the space below, for shoes, not really usable. Also, the top shelf above the upper rod is unusable since it has to be so close to the ceiling in order for me to have upper & lower rods.
The other reason I would like the photos to depict real closets is the dead space I am left with at the right side of my closet. I didn't realize, until it was too late, that I would have a great big empty in the right corner of my closet. My closet door is situated at the far left of the whole closet, leaving about 24" of space beyond the opening to the right. Since you are instructed to build the thing from the side where there is the most access, I installed from left to right. My closet is just under 6' side to side. I have about 14" of space with no access, and nothing I can hang from the rails since the last 2 vertical rails are not 22" apart, as required by product add-on options.
All in all, I am quite certain that I LOST usable closet space by installing this product. I may end up ripping it out & putting into my son's (much smaller) closet, but for now, I am stuck with this thing in my closet and I am disappointed, to say the least.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Not as versatile as it could be

I really like this system, as it is a great product for its price point. I am very disappointed that 36"W shelves are not available separately (without being part of a kit), as this truly limits the versatility of the closet configuration. If not for this shortcoming, I would rate this a 4-star product.

Horrible closet system

The instructions are horrible. I cannot understand the directions because they are so incomplete and they assume you know how to put it together. The pictures are faded, and very hard to see. This was a waste of money. So far I have not found online instructions. Do not buy this item unless you have installed closet systems similar to this, and you don't need any directions.

Assembling the Rubbermaid Expandable Closet Kit involves several steps. Here’s a general guide to help you through the process:
Measure the height and width of your closet space.
Use a stud finder to locate and mark the studs on the wall where you will install the hanging rail.
Position the hang rail at the desired height and mark the screw holes.
Drill pilot holes into the studs and secure the hang rail with screws. If your kit includes multiple rails, slide the second rail behind the first one.
Attach the uprights to the hang rail. Ensure they are evenly spaced and level. Secure the uprights to the wall using screws and spacers.
Insert Brackets and Shelves:
Insert the brackets into the uprights at your desired heights.
Place the shelves onto the brackets and lock them into place. Adjust the shelves as needed.
Install Rod Hangers and Closet Rods:
Attach the rod hangers to the uprights.
Insert the closet rods into the hangers and snap them into place. Adjust the rods to the desired length.

Great addition to front door area

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this Rubbermaid shoe shelf a week ago, and it had made my life so much easier with shoes at the entrance. Finally an organized spot for the kids to put their shoes. It was super easy to assemble. It took 10 seconds to put together which was awesome.

Expandable Space Flexibility

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When we moved into our new house, the closets had the typical builder's closets with the accompanying pole for hanging clothes. But we quickly knew that we had to re-imagine the space and Rubbermaid Expandable Wire Closet Kit was just the answer. Having the options to create the configuration to our specific needs, was perfect and we designed one shelf for winter sweaters, and one for winter boots. The hanging portions hung our winter coats and hoodies easily and though heavy, the rod was perfectly balanced and stable. I liked the ease of installation since it was a mere need to find the stud in the wall, and drill the screws securely...no cutting of wires, or metal poles at all! The sleek design maintained the minimalist look of the room while offering form, function, and fashion to the closet.

Hello Organization, Goodbye Clutter!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got the white Rubbermaid 4-Tier Closet Shoe Shelf with the idea of putting into the bedroom closet but once it was built, I realized that it was streamlined enough and eye-appealing to keep in my attached breezeway between the house and my garage. The sloppy shoes all over the floor are no more! Sandals easily fit on the bottom rack, shoes and /or sneakers on the next two racks and the top rack is perfect for my boots and purse. At over 2 feet high, it offers room for over 12 pair of shoes, sandals, sneakers and boots plus the sides stop shoes from falling off. The white is easily cleanable. Set against my teal wall color the shoe rack makes a beautiful statement and is the perfect addition to the area. Easy to put together, it’s sturdy and the Rubbermaid name is synonymous with quality material and workmanship!
