I got tired of replacing carburetors every year, so I researched cordless electric mowers. The reviews consistently pointed to Greenworks as being the best. The no risk guarantee sold me, so I ordered online. I have about 1/4 acre of lawn to mow, with a lot of maneuvering around flower beds. I received it from the company about four days after I ordered it. Assembly was minimal, and did not require special tools or "another set of hands."
The batteries came partially charged, so I decided to go ahead and give it a try. My previous mower had been self-propelled and battery start, and was a real chore, because the self-propelled feature would just leave the wheels spinning in the grass. The 21" Greenworks was a dream to push. It is so lightweight that it took no effort to get it around the yard. Even starting with the partially charged battery, I had plenty of juice to get the lawn mowed. It cut evenly , even on my irregular lawn. The battery charges quickly, so I was able to get enough power for my trimmer as well.
I love the fact that I can adjust the wheel height of all four wheels with one lever, and it is a smooth operation to raise and lower them.

Very light-duty grass only

very disappointed with this machine. what I did in 30 minutes with a gas mower takes me 2 days! with this machine, and its still not 100% done. I bought an extra battery and it is still very disappointing how weak the motor is. It shuts down and kills battery at the slightest hiccup

Hello turfted,

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you are dissatisfied with the run time of this battery when used in this lawn mower.
It is important to adjust your mowing techniques to make the most out of the battery life but it goes without saying that that the harder the unit works, the quicker the battery drains.

Here are a few mowing tips to help achieve the optimal run time.

1) When cutting thick grass, reduce walking speed to allow for a more effective cut and a proper discharge of the clippings.

2) Only mow 1/3 of the total grass length at a time - no more. For a healthy lawn, always cut off one-third or less of the total length of the grass. The average lawn should be approximately 1 1/2 to 2” (3.8 to 5 cm) long during cool months, and between 2" to 3 1/4" (5 cm to 8.3 cm) long during hot months.

3) Mow when the grass is dry. As this is an electric unit, mowing wet/damp grass is a safety issue. However, ensuring the grass is dry will also help the grass cut cleanly and discharge appropriately. Wet/damp grass carries more weight and will mostly stick to the blade/motor shaft and will not appropriately discharge or cut easily.

4) Make sure the battery is cool before use. When the battery will not be in use, we suggest storing it indoors, in a cool dry area - away from direct sunlight. Leave the charger unplugged and the battery disconnected from the charger unless it needs charging.

We hope these tips will help! If not, we would be happy to investigate to see whether your run time would be considered average; please contact us directly through chatbot on www.greenworkstools.com that will direct you to a live agent or call us on Greenworks Pro toll-free helpline at 1-855-345-3934. We would like the opportunity to speak with you to see if we can find a solution. All we ask that you have access to the unit so that we can complete troubleshooting with you and gather necessary unit information.

Consider a second battery
on March 29, 2024

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I went with the most powerful. I'm glad I did. I only mow every other week. This baby shredded through weeds and grass without stalling. Battery died before completing little more than .25 acre. I like to mulch maybe we battery died. This is more powerful than my gas lawnmower that won't start. I need a second battery for my yard.

I am very pleased with this product after just one use. The battery charged in under an hour. Height adjustment is very simple and easy to do. Starting involves the push of a button...no more cord pulling. The speed adjustment of the blade takes a little getting used to. Some grass clippings are left on the lawn in thicker areas. I have 3/4 of an acre, and battery easily lasted as long as I needed.

LOVE IT!! Used it for the first time last week and I am sold! It is MUCH lighter than our gas mower which made mowing a pleasure again. Battery ran out before I was done but just stuck in another one and good to go.

Rugged electric

My "lawn" is a mix of native ground covers, bunch grasses, fallen leaves, and the occasional twig, on uneven ground. This mower powered its way through the rough stuff as well as my old gas mower, and I appreciated the way the blade speed varied according to the challenge. After whacking down 1/2 acre, I still had about 25% charge left, and the battery fully recharged before I finished my lunch break. If you are joining the anti-lawn movement, this is your tool for mulching and controlling open spaces.

80V Push Mower

I purchased a Greenworks 80V Push Mower online with some hesitation. However, upon delivery of the mower I found it extremely simple to assemble - and I'm not mechanically inclined. Thus far, the mower has done a great job! It has plenty of power and the combined two batteries lasts approximately 1 hour. It is much quieter than the gas mower it replaced making mowing the yard a less challenging task.

Excellent mower with impressive power and durability

This is my first battery-powered lawn mower, and I'm truly amazed with how quiet and powerful it is. Before buying, I compared it with another popular brand. What sold me on this GreenWorks mower were (1) the steel deck, and (2) the brushless motor, which means durability and power. Our front lawn plus the sidewalk-to-curb strip is about 1,600 sqft total, and runs the battery down to about 50% to completely mow. I'm doubtful this could tackle a whole acre on a single charge, but it's more than enough for our needs, it cuts beautifully, and it's quieter than any gas-powered mower I've ever used. The only complaint I have about this mower is the handle assembly. There's a cord on one side of the upper (start) handle which you need to feed into the lower section of the handle, and it doesn't feel like there's enough room for it. They say to be very careful with that cord, but you basically have to force it in to get the handle to the point that the bolt holes line up. And then, you need to make sure the bolt doesn't damage the cord. I'd almost deduct a star for that, but everything else about this mower deserves high marks, so I'm sticking with the 5-star rating.
