I've been searching for a nice wireless open-back for a while. I prefer the sound stage for lots of music while using open-back headphones--especially classical, jazz, and Afro beat. I use the HD600s, HD560S and Hifiman 400SE while wired, but wanted a similar experience while on WiFi or utilizing USB-C audio. They're not perfect, but they have a lot of punch for an open-back. I don't care about driver count, but this is a decent implementation. There are a few treble spikes in default EQ, but it's still decent. Balanced loses the punch, and bass boost mode is a little bloated. Custom EQ Durant responds as I would like, so I just keep it on default with no issues.
I'm surprised that JLAB came out with this concept and I expect others to follow suit. I'm happy with the purchase. They won't replace my wired sets, but they're a nice option for open-back sound while on the go or away from my DAC/amp or DAP.
So it was advertised that the grille could be removed but I'm having to dig through Google to try and find out how. There was no manual that came with it... So a little frustrated with that. But otherwise great product. Still breathable
Out of the box the Jlab JBUDS Open Wireless Headphonse sound really good - and the 'open' nature of them allows one to hear ambient sound in addition. The only negative comment is that the headphones were delivered without the usual JLAB Quick Start Guide - that's a real shame.
