I have had an Oehler 35P and it has served me well. Then I bought the first available radar type system, so I didn't have to set-up equipment beyond the firing line. My first radar system was a bit cumbersome and not without issues and need for aftermarket parts to make it work more reliably. I never liked the thought of hanging something on my barrel either. This Xero C1 Pro is the ticket. The Xero C1 Pro fits in my shirt pocket when headed to the range, populates to my phone and can be downloaded to computer. The Xero C1 Pro catches every shot and calculates the most useful information about my loads. I could not have made a better purchase as far as a radar type chronograph goes.
This Chronograph is worth every penny I paid for it. Hands Down the Easiest Chronograph I have ever used. Super simple set up and placement of the Chronograph. Thank you Garmin for another GREAT Product.
I brought this to my indoor firing range (C2 Tactical, Tempe Az) to test some of my reloads and to compare it with some commercial loads that I had on hand. I was somewhat fearful that the device would trigger off of shots from neighboring lanes but I was pleased to find that this never happened.
I have never used a chronograph before, but I was happy with the results I got. Some of my ammo showed high consistency (good), some had higher variance. The user interface felt a little bit clunky, but was very functional (up, down, back, ok and power). The gun did not seem to have to be very close to the gun under test to get (apparently) good readings.
The main thing is that it showed me how my loads were working. My 9mm defense loads seemed very good (over 400 ft-lbs) while my 300 black out loads were weak (~700 ft-lbs out of a short 6.5" Dissent pistol). Based on that I am happy with my 9mm load (6 grains Longshot with 124 grain XTP hollow points) while I am going to try switching my 300 blackout from CFE BLK to Lil'gun to see if I can move more towards 1000 ft-lbs (125 grant TNT lead)
It is nice to know where you are at to understand if all is good or if you need to change things around.
