Major Upgrade in Convenience and User Experience

I'm a competitive precision rifle shooter and have been a user of a different doppler chronograph for years. The alternative worked well enough, but was a bit cumbersome to include in the range bag and took some finesse to set it up. I splurged on the Garmin hoping to have something more portable and versatile. Why did I wait so long? The Xero is such a nice upgrade. I can easily take it on any range trip. I can attach it to the rifle (with hardware not included from Garmin) to measure velocity mid-match, and it is incredibly robust with shot detection. I've used it with my suppressed .22 and it doesn't miss a shot. Bluetooth connectivity with the app has been seamless so far and the entire user experience is simple and intuitive. This thing is great.
This chronograph literally changed the industry. Great for shooting both firearms and arrows. Used it at the rifle range. all the details work as intended. Nothing did not work.
I've been able to use the Xero C1 on 2 different range sessions. Setup is incredibly simple and this unit has not failed to pick up a shot regardless of rate of fire from 25 grain .17 Hornet at 4087 fps to .380 ACP at 827 fps. It picked up my .50 cal muzzleloader below the velocity threshold setting at 1350. It also measured 223 at 3100 fps at a moderate rate of fire, faster than the unit processes shots, and it was able to catch up once I finished the string of 10. Not 1 missed shot. Now I've got some handload development to test and I have confidence that I will be getting consistent data to work with. I would highly recommend this chrono based on my first 2 sessions with it.
Have used many chronographs in the past. This one is so much easier. I am more likely to take it to the range because of the ease of carry and ease of use. The menu issuper easy to get right to work.
Having used the unit for 30 sessions I have found some things that would easily be corrected in programing. First would be the ability to control the unit from your phone. Currently you have to push the buttons on the unit to start a new session. There should be a complete session button on your phone and start new session button. Second It would also be nice to enter a rifle profile with multiple load data stored in the app. Third deleting sessions, you should be able to delete sessions from the phone and clear the unit. I think the programmers thought people would use the unit without the phone app. But even the old sky screen units allow you to control the unit from the app or phone. Fourth would be away to interface the unit to ballistic programs or Kestrel. This may be challenging and is in no way affecting my rating. It seems with the depth of Garmin they might be able to figure this out. Fifth would be a BC calculator but again this is just a wish and is not affecting the rating. Overall it has not missed a shot and I have had the unit sitting on a firing line with 8 other shooters and never skipped a beat or malfunctioned. It is worth the investment. Only removed one star because I dont know why the communication with the app is only one way from the unit to the phone not back to the unit.
Ease of use and accuracy. I've used this item to test handloads and factory ammunition. Setup is very easy and the app stores data to help with load development. Absolute must have for any long range shooting applications. This item is great for both beginners and experts.
This chronograph is hands down the new standard. Other companies better do some serious reverse engineering if they want to stay competitive. The Xero C1 is worth every penny! My only suggestion for Garmin would be to add the ability to upload photos to sessions on the app. I will be using this chronograph every time I go to the range!! Highly recommended!
