Easy to use

I've used the Garmin twice in an indoor range for pistol cartridges. It picks up about 50% of the shots. The range has 6 lanes and each time 3 other lanes were in use and the other shooters did not effect the Garmin. A warning appeared on the screen stating that there was noise, hvac, fans.. that was causing interference it still operated.
Used it 1 time outside to chronograph a pellet gun and it worked flawless.
I have an old style chronograph where you measure 10 feet from the gun muzzle to place the chronograph and the Garmin I set it next to me. It's Great!!! So easy to use.
I downloaded the app on my phone and it works great.
I would definitely purchase again.

I have used this on three different rifles now and all as expected results and never missed a shot, with zero setup time and great features expensive but great piece of kit.

Accuracy is questionable

I bought this in November 2024 and have used it about a dozen times since. It shows velocities that I believe to be higher than actual based on the ballistics charts. I purchased Hand loads that had a muzzle velocity rating of 2708 fps. I measured about 30 separate velocities with the Garmin unit which showed 2820 fps as an average velocity with a standard deviation of less than 12. When I dialed my reticle at 600 yds, I was 7-8” below the target. When I plugged in the 2708fps from the box, I was forced to go up 5 clicks which put me right on target. I believe the unit is reading higher than actual, based on the ballistics calculator.

Nice unit but room for App improvment

Having used the unit for 30 sessions I have found some things that would easily be corrected in programing.
First would be the ability to control the unit from your phone. Currently you have to push the buttons on the unit to start a new session. There should be a complete session button on your phone and start new session button.
Second It would also be nice to enter a rifle profile with multiple load data stored in the app.
Third deleting sessions, you should be able to delete sessions from the phone and clear the unit. I think the programmers thought people would use the unit without the phone app. But even the old sky screen units allow you to control the unit from the app or phone.
Fourth would be away to interface the unit to ballistic programs or Kestrel. This may be challenging and is in no way affecting my rating. It seems with the depth of Garmin they might be able to figure this out.
Fifth would be a BC calculator but again this is just a wish and is not affecting the rating.
Overall it has not missed a shot and I have had the unit sitting on a firing line with 8 other shooters and never skipped a beat or malfunctioned. It is worth the investment. Only removed one star because I dont know why the communication with the app is only one way from the unit to the phone not back to the unit.

The price may be a reason for holding off on buying this. Don’t let the price slow down your thoughts of buying. The Xero is so easy to use you will forget the price you paid for it. When you pair with the Garmin Shotview app to review the data collected this thing will change the way you shoot and review the data collected. Garmin has made a totally shooter friendly tool. You can let a friend use it knowing that they will probably buy one for themselves after using it. The way the set up is configured you are able to get set up and start shooting without frustration.
At the range I have had 0 missed shot data even with other shooters on both sides. The data is displayed instantly and a rolling tally is shown for the max, average and minimum with the session.
The small size is surprising for how simple the unit is to use. The four buttons help you navigate through the simple info to get shooting. Buy it!
