Amazing device!

I bought this, so I could have a convenient way to check the velocity of my loads. It works fantastic. It may cost a little, but it’s the best money I have spent lately, it works great, gives you plenty of information and it’s super simple to set up. You won’t go wrong getting one.

This is an absolute game changer! No more trying to line up a chrono or making sure there's enough bright lite. This is an absolute must buy!!!

Nice features but misses shots
on April 16, 2024

My replacement unit is much better at collecting shot data, but still fails to capture 6-10% of shots. There appears to be some indoor range interference, however several other shooters do not experience near as many misses with their Xeros. Tried comparing units side-by-side and mine will fail when others do not.

Easiest to Use and Safest Chronograph

I purchased the Garmin Xero C1 because I handload for a large number of cartridges, ranging from the 0.223 WSSM to the 0.577 Snider. Particularly with the large blackpowder cartridges, it is important to understand the relationship between velocity and powder charge with very low loading densities. I have owned four chronographs prior to the Xero C1 over the past 40 years, including all the commonly advertised types. With the skyscreen-type chronographs, you have to set up the skyscreens (or the whole chronograph) in front of the firing line. This can range from inconvenient to dangerous on a crowded firing line, where you need to get everyone else to cease fire for setup and takedown. With the Xero C1, you simply place the unit on its convenient tripod in the vicinity of the muzzle, and you are ready to go. The phone app makes it really easy to store your data on phone or computer, and the user interface is very intuitive and user friendly. My muzzle velocity range goes from ~ 600 ft/sec. for 0.455 Webley or 0.50 Remington Army Pistol, up to 4500 ft/sec for the 0.223 WSSM. In loading for my 0.577 Snider, I had several rounds fail to clear the muzzle because of poor ignition with very small charges of 4198, and the Xero C1 clued me in to check the bore with zero measured velocity. The small size and easy user interface mean that you can take the Xero C1 to the range every time you go, where the complication of a skyscreen chronograph is a serious deterrant. All in all, the Garmin Xero C1 is the best chronograph I have ever used, and I always bring it to the range, which means I know more about how my loads are performing.

Chronos Just Skipped a Generation

I have used a number of chronographs over the years, ranging from optical to radar. None come remotely close to the form, fit, and function of the Garmin. Frankly, having owned a number of Garmin products, I would expect nothing less. Garmin is the epitome of a great product company.
On to some specifics:
- The thing never misses a shot - It is tiny in comparison to everything else out there - it is very easy to use. Worked like a champ right out of the box - The mobile app is excellent and allows for much greater flexibility than competing products - It is a breeze to set up. I use an arca bar that connects to the arca rails on my rifles. Pull it out of its protective case, slap it on the rifle, turn it on, and go. Note that Garmin does not warranty usage in this manner, but I have shot a few hundred rounds through my 300 PRC with no ill effects, not to mention hundreds more of 6mm and 308.
While the other manufacturers were either sitting on the laurels of their gen-1 product or building a gen-2, Garmin built a gen-3.

It works and it is easy to set-up

I own or have used most chronographs. The Xero C1 Pro is the best by far. It works, the battery lasts a long time, and it so easy to use and set-up I have been using it everytime , just in case. Where it fails is software. The software is just a phone app., you can use to look at the data You can't print it and the data is hard export. It nowhere near what I have come to expect from Garmin Fenix, Forerunner, Edge.... Even my ancient Foretrex 201 software beat the Zero. At a minimum the Zero need to integrate into Express like other Garmin's A similar review has been posted on Reddit
