Most people only find plastic tape when they look for something to seal a package. But watch what happens when it gets wet. Useless. The best most secure seal is a heavy Kraft paper with a strong adhesive. Staples paper tape is the runner up to the other kraft paper variety. It is better than probably any plastic tape but it just isn’t the real McCoy.
The surface side is too waxy. Ordinary pen or stamp mark cannot adhere to the surface easily. Not too suitable for sending registered mail through USPS as the Postal clerk has to put security stamp marks on the tap and package surface.
This is the second 3M product that I have purchased in the last week -- the other was clear packing tape -- that doesn't stay stuck to packing boxes. Has 3M forgotten how to make tape? Really?
