It seemed to be something you could place on a document and it would magnify. However you have to hold it over the document so obviously you can't work and read at the same time. No hands-free here. Unfortunately due to COVID I can't take it back. Thrown away money.

The magnification is 2x which isn't much and it is also difficult to get it into the right angle to be able to use it properly. I found smaller 3-4X magnifiers worked better for lines of small print or pages even.
