Own Brand Tape is Inferior

Packaging tape seems to be one of those "own brand" products that are significantly inferior to 3M. This Staples tape rips too easily (by which I mean it tends to tear diagonally across the tape). It also doesn't seem to stick as well or to be as strong as 3M/ Scotch Tape. I like the idea of own brand products because I don't like paying a premium for a brand name but paying a premium for quality is a different matter. At them moment 3M/ Scotch Tape are worth more than the extra cost.
