The Lego community has been waiting or wondering if Lego was ever going to make a Lego Titanic. Lego has finally done it and in my opinion did a very good job. They made it big. They made it grand. They made it pricey. BUT its all worth it because it will go down as one of the most love Lego sets in history. It means a lot to me. Hopefully you guys fell the same way.

I'm absolutely amazed at the detail and planning that was put into this model. It was challenging, entertaining, and an awesome addition to display in my elementary classroom. It was a great way to pique the interest of my students.

Biggest build I’ve done!

It took a total of 30 hours to build. Had a couple missing pieces. They are on the way. Hands down my favorite build so far. Detail is great. It’s heavy. So build it where you plan on displaying it. Don’t try and move it in one piece. I placed it on display after completing the entire build.

As a thirty seven year old, this is the first lego set I have acquired and built in twenty five years. The experience was revelatory. I actually experienced some bodily pain putting it together and spent 32 hours over three days. I might recommend ‘slowing down’ and enjoying the build process with plenty of space to spread the pieces and a very comfortable chair! I've enjoyed the literary work ‘A Night to Remember’ on audiobook, which hasn’t gone out of print since it came out in 1955, to much acclaim.

Being that this was modular made it awesome. I was able to split the 3 books up. My 6 year old son which found no issues building the first 1/3 wile I was building the others. Again great build. We took 2 days to build it. Would buy again

Relive history aboard the HMS Titanic

First I will state that this was an extremely exciting build. I have been building Lego sets for over 40 years and recently I have joined with my daughter to build a couple of the larger sets currently on the market. I shorted the pieces and she built the Hogwarts Castle and then for this one we switched the roles.
This set contained a lot of non-traditional building techniques that made it a true enjoyment. These techniques really brought out the true details of this massive model. Let me brake this down into my personal pros and cons.
First the pro's:
The detail is out of this world. The only thing that would have brought out the feeling of the Titanic would have been Mariah Carey singing "My Heart Goes On" in the background while you build it.
From the stacks and benches on the deck, to the cross sections of the rooms, to the engine room, If it is viewable and it is a detail it is perfect. Even the elements that are strings don't require you attempt to tie knots (something that I have never been good at). And here is a major plus, NO STICKERS. The pieces that would normally have details brought out by stickers are actual pieces.
Now for my cons and I am going to put this out there before I get too far, my cons are not true cons but more of some suggestions that I might have recommended had I been on the planning committee, and these items could actually be incorporated by the individual builder.
My biggest issue was that the ship actually divides into three separate parts with cross sections viewable at the ends of each section. But each of the three sections is built by two sub-sections that after the completion of each section of the ship are attached together. The problem that I had with the build is that the ends of the two subsections that goes together do not have a lot of central support. Those that have built this set know what I am talking about. Don't get me wrong it does not make the build any less enjoyable or stable, it just could have been more stable with some simple blocks to support the end pieces.
Finally the only other item that caught me was detail oriented that caught me off a little was on the portholes. Most of the portholes had a white background that gave them a lighted appearance except for about 4 portholes that had dark pieces behind them. This made it so that these portholes didn't appear lite up like the others. Once again something that a builder can easily change out a piece or two and make it work but it is just another example about how even with all the attention to detail it was the little things.
But with all that said I would gladly buy this set again, without a hesitation. I was a great build, fantastic detail, wonderful experience, and something that I will be able to display with pride.

Bought this for my 9 year old son just to see if he could do it. He bought several sets while we were at Legoland and he finished them in a couple days an they weren't easy either, like actually plugging in the wiring to the locomotive to make it run. So I gave him my "adult" set from Jurassic Park and he finished it in 5 hrs hence getting him this one. Well it's taking him longer than I thought but he's also not dedicated every minute to it. And he's on box 3 so almost complete. I'm floored and amazed by his skill set.
