Loved it so much I got two!

Review is coming YEARS overdue! I’ve had two of these running my network and office, works very well. Here on the west coast, brownouts and rolling blackouts happen often. These enable me to work for an extra hour during a blackout, proliferate my equipment through subverting surges and other power issues from the grid, and allows me time to shut everything down safely should a prolonged period of time without power come.
My customer service experience was fantastic as well. Shoutout APC, lifelong customer for sure!

Good Product, but LEDs Too Bright

I upgraded again after years of using APC UPSs, and this unit has lots of helpful features. The cordless battery connection and the better, more informative display are among the better ones, in my view.
The one drawback is the LEDs on the control buttons - they are way too bright. They may work well in a brightly lighted office, but under a desk, especially at home, they cause so much glare you can't make out the icons on the buttons. Worse, they light up the whole area at night. They really need to be much dimmer, or have a brightness control.

Nice improvements

I have been using APC Back-UPS for years and found thier products dependable and reliable. Improvements in line noise filtering, over/under voltage compasation w/o the need to go on battey preserving the battery life. New features like Green Mode and Power-Saving outlets. Great for PCs and Media Centers.

Great Upgrade

I purchased the APC model Back UPS Pro 1000 to replace my aged RS 800. I have used this unit now for about 2 months and could not be more pleased. Provides great instant power for AC power losses and great surge protection. Interface/UI is intelligent and easy to utilize. Great package!

Better Mac documentation would be nice

As far as I can tell, the unit is fine. Installation was just a matter of plugging things in. It came with all necessary cables. What would have been nice, though, is for the documentation to explain that, while the PowerChute software only runs on Windows machines, that's no problem for Mac users, because the Apple OS includes that functionality in the System Preferences. I stumbled on that quite by accident (and not in any of the supplied documentation), after thinking that I was going to have to do without.

Back-UPS Pro 1000

This unit has worked out well for me as a secondary UPS unit. I got it using the trade in program and found that program convenient in being able to send the old unit back that I had for around 7 years..

Good ... But

I think it's a great product, gives lots of good information about the UPS through it's front panel. I like APC products, have trusted them for more than 20 years. Here is why I gave it a 3 star rating, and only for this, other wise I would have given it a four or five, Mac OS X ins't supported very well. I can have good support if I am running windows or through open source stuff in linux, but it falls way short in OS X land, sorry guys, got to do better.
