Normally the Scotch Brite Heavy Duty Sponge works like a champ. Our family has been buying them for a few years now. They can clean most anything with our damaging the surface of the cleaned area. I even like to use them on my firearms to remove rust.
Unfortunately, we hit a little snag with our last 3 pack. the sponges would not stay together. They just started to crumble while we were washing dishes. The sponges were not a week old form the store and had not been used yet. This event is what forces me to downgrade my score.

I love using these pads to clean everything from grill, pots and pans, to even tools I use in the shop. I have found that they work well on removing rust, glue, paint, etc. from my hand tools.
