I purchased the HP EliteBook, HP docking station and HP monitor as a bundle from HP. The monitor routinely goes dark when browsing the internet. This happened instantly, so I tried connecting with another HDMI cable vs the HP supplied HDMI cable - the issue still persists. The docking station is hit or miss if it will wake up the monitor after being in sleep mode. Most of the time I have to open the laptop type in my password 2-3 times before the docking station finally transmits a signal to the monitor. When the docking station is communicating with the monitor, after logging into to the EliteBook the monitor gores dark for ~20 seconds, every time. Due to the forementioned issues, I have buyer's remorse over purchasing the Elitebook and accessories.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
