Deserves all the praise!

The hype around the phone is legit, it is worthy of the “phone of the year” title for 2022. I have owned this phone for a month and the most notable features on the pixel 7 are the cameras and Google’s AI tools. The pictures from the camera are just right (sample photos attached to this review), this means it captures colors and sharpness very naturally without overdoing any processing while also not producing a boring photo. It is one of the best camera phones on the market, no doubt. Google’s assistant is also very helpful, my favorite feature is its integration with other google services such as the calendar, it is super convenient to use. In comparison to other Android phones on the market, I really like the pixel user interface, it is a clean and no fuss approach to interacting with your phone with plenty of features that are well laid out. The home screen is highly customizable as well, so it can adapt to your taste. Another standout feature is Google’s feature drops, which aim to add new features to pixel devices making the phone even more exciting to own. The battery life has been great so far, I’ve been getting 10-13h of screen-on time on a full charge. The fact that the pixel 7 is cheaper than competing flagships makes it an even more attractive option.
In terms of drawbacks I would consider the pixel 7’s processor (Tensor G2) to be something that may potentially hold this phone from being perfect. Although this phone has never lagged or felt slow to me, it might not keep up with other faster chips as it ages.

The reviews below are for the Pixel 7 PRO, not the Pixel 7 and most that I've seen are part of a promotion. So start by not believing this.

Front camera issues
on November 23, 2022

I recently upgraded my Google pixel 2 to the Google pixel 7 from best buy. Obviously it has been a big improvement since my old one was on its way out, but I was highly disappointed at the pixel 7 front camera. The photos/selfies come out either grainy and harsh, or blurry and smoothed out, almost as though you are using a selfie makeup/blur setting. There seems to be no lighting that makes the front camera photos look normal, they all look strange and as though they have been adjusted. It also looks as though the camera cannot handle even the slightest low lighting, even midday indoors is a struggle to get unblurry photos. The camera was the most important feature for my purchasing decision so in the end I kind of wish I went with another phone in the end.

Good phone bad camera

Great phone! Going from oneplus 6 to pixel 7 is a huge jump. I really like the Google OS it's very smooth and easy to use. My only issue is with the front camera, the quality is abysmal. I've seen phones from 7 years ago with better front camera. It's pixelated and doesn't focus especially during video calls. I understand it's fixed focus but it's not practical to keep your phone far from your face while speaking to get the 'sweet spot'. I hope google can do something to fix this issue it's quite disappointing.

It is described the SIM slot for Dual SIM card, but the product received is single SIM slot and did not have the description for eSIM availability. It's absolutely not be recommended.

Would be great if not the fingerprint sensor.

Why two stars on other wise an amazing phone... Because the finger print sensor is terrible. The rumors you've heard are true, it fails all the time. I've done very thing under the sun to attempt to remedy this with no luck. It appears the consensus is the same around the web.
Either than that, the phone is awesome! Camera is amazing as always, battery life is actually very very good. Ear speaker could be louder, but either than that a solid phone over all.
So why the big hit in the rating, the finger print sensor is literally a key feature to secure and open your phone. It would be like half the time not being able to get into your home.

Absolutely horrendous battery drain

Perhaps I got a lemon. I have loaded very, very few apps as I just purchased the Pixel 7 a few days ago. I do not use my phone for video games.
I read the news for approximately 30 minutes during which time I watched a 2-minute movie trailer and the battery is already down 8%.
The battery drain by this Pixel phone is far worse than my 4-year-old entry level LG phone which I have used constantly since purchasing it.

Overall OK but awful for video creators

The actual phone is good enough for everyday use and I don't mind the photo quality. My calls are unfortunately not very clear. My main reason to upgrade was for video creating. I should have done more research on how bad the audio is, especially with external microphones. It definitely wasn't worth leaving Samsung for pixel in this department and unfortunately it's too late now for me to change back to Samsung due to my contract with my mobile carrier. I'm sure this phone is fantastic for those not using it for the purpose I was hoping to. My advice, just do your own research on the components that are important to you.
