I was very disappointed to discover (after I purchased the thermometer) that it can only be used through an app. In order to use the app, one is required to consent to storage of personal information (i.e. body temperatures of the entire household) on a remote server in another country. No thanks!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It has a nice and sleek design, but doesn't do the main job. Everytime that I try it, it gives me a different reading. Currently, I have fever and it shows me a range of 38.5 to 39.5
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Convenient to use and syncs to app(s)

Recently purchased (2 days ago). Comes with batteries installed, (2x AAA). Battery cover is held by two strong magnets. After ~6 measurements, battery life at 88%. Alkaline batteries recommended but will see if rechargeables can be used in the future.
One button activation, immediately starts measuring and requires user to scan device from center of forehead to temple. Vibrates to signify measurement taken. Then able to assign measurement to a user profile by swiping on the thermometer and press button to confirm.
Must be used with Withings Thermo app, and then also syncs to Health Mate app.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Reliable, quick and very easy to use. Slightly expensive, but trust on readings trumps that.
