Great Shredder!
on September 29, 2022

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. This is really a great machine. It meets my needs in a variety of ways. As far as looks, it's sleek, sophisticated, and I'd call it more of an office accessory, rather than a machine, in appearance. Would fit in with any decor and not be a hideous thing to have to look at. As far as features, I really like the safety lock. It's great for households with children and/or pets that could be injured. I like the cross cut shredding, for extra security, and I like the big receptacle for the shreds. It holds a lot for a small machine. It has a long shredding time of 5 minutes, and has a cool down period in order to avoid overheating, which is another great safety feature. It's a well designed, well thought out piece of office equipment that I've really appreciated using, to help keep my family and identity safe from those who go through other people's trash. If I have to have one complaint, I'd say it's a bit more noisy than the advertised "Quiet Operation". It's not quiet to me, but none of these machines can really be anywhere near silent because they need to chew up papers! It's also great at shredding old credit cards, and the accidental paper clips and staples I forgot to remove prior to shredding. The lift off top is easy to remove and clean. I very nighly recommend this product for home office needs.
Pros: Jam Resistance, Mess Reduction, Quality Construction, Safety Features, Secure Cut Size, Service Guarantee, Sheet Capacity, Shreds Credit Cards, Staples and CDs, Warranty
Cons: Quality Construction, Quiet Operation
I would recommend this to a friend!

Upgrading between Fellowes shredders
on October 7, 2022
Posted by: 2Girls1Boy
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had Fellowes shredders since I became an adult. I keep one to shred all my important paperwork that contains any personal information. I currently own a 9C, but was offered a chance to participate in the Sampling Program and was sent an LX70 to review. It is altogether a better machine than the 9C. The LX70 has a larger storage compartment for the shreds, the machine runs quicker and IS quieter, but the noise is also a bit higher pitched on this machine...which took some getting use to. It is extremely sufficient, does not appear to jam (haven't had the ability to make it yet at least!) and performs as good, if not better than expected as a product of Fellowes. I received this product free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
Pros: Jam Resistance, Quiet Operation, Safety Features, Sheet Capacity, Shreds Credit Cards, Staples and CDs
Cons: noise is a higher pitched

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this shredder about 2 weeks ago in exchange for my unbiased and honest review. Only one point of contention. The machine is rather quiet for a cross-cutting shredder but not ultra quiet. The design of the machine with handles in the middle instead of the sides gives great stability when moving. There seems to be a safety feature that requires giving a slight push to shred which is very thoughtful when one realizes that the paper should not be shredded. The speed, amount and types of papers to shred are as described in the manual. For those needing a cross-cutting shredder, I would highly recommend this Fellowes model.
Pros: Jam Resistance, Mess Reduction, Quality Construction, Safety Features, Secure Cut Size, Service Guarantee, Sheet Capacity, Warranty
Cons: Quiet Operation
I would recommend this to a friend!

Quiet. Confetti. Fast. Efficient.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This shredder works fast and you can easily put in multiple sheets of paper at a time. The best parts of the machine are the very fine cuts/shreds of paper, fast cutting time, no dust, and the big bucket to collect it.
It has the usual buttons -- power on and a reverse button in the event of jamming, but so far, I have not experienced that. The power switch is in the back, near the cord to turn it on and off. Always leave it in the off position when not in use!
It can shred credit cards and papers that have clips and staples. Huge plus and I don't have to worry about jamming it up...even though there is a section that pulls out in the even of a jam to clear it up.
This does not shred in long strips. It shreds as micro-cut and make it look like mini cuts of paper - like fine confetti. The feeder takes paper up to 9 inches wide. The only issue with the feeder is that despite what you put in the tray (near the back), you must engage it with one piece of paper in the manual slot. Then it begins shredding.
For maintenance, I will generally put oil in it every other time from emptying the bin. It does however come with its own internal readings that let you know it needs maintenance. Unlike some other shredders I have had, this one does not create fine dust on the top of the machine either. The blades are just low enough that it does not create the dust particles.
Since the shredder comes on wheels, the bucket pulls out easy. It does not catch on anything since it is raised off the floor - almost two inches. It also has an easy to hold handle in the back of it to pick it up and move it around if needed.
While I have not run it for this long, it says it can go up to 7 minutes. For the amount of paper you can shred with each manual insertion and the ease of use, I don't know that you would ever get to that minute marker. I shred mail, bills, etc weekly, so it never piles up too big. I do financial/medical documents once a year, but with the way this machine takes down paper, it will not get to the 7 minute mark.
I received this product free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
