Excellent speakers for the surround, and I don’t think you could go wrong with these. So, when you open the box don’t even worry about the size because you will be shocked once you connect them and listen to them.
These were purchased fall 2023 online for a super sale price; so, it was a no-brainer. I use these as surround speakers in my 5.1 system that has Klipsch Heresy IVs for fronts, an RC-25 for center, and two Definitive Technology ProSub 80s on each side of the room.
The R-51Ms "keep up" with the Heresys much better than a cheap pair of satellite speakers. They are plenty loud and have a good bass response for their size. Fairly articulate on the high end. I mostly use them for concert DVDs, movies, and 5.1 SACDs. I suppose they would work fine for a pair of fronts in a small room.
Connectivity - 2 years of this - will replace asap

I bought these speakers 2 years ago and paid more than I could really afford for 'great' speakers. Since then, I have daily issues with the speakers not bluetooth connecting to apple tv. I had a new apple tv when I got them and just replaced it with 4K ~ same issue. You have to connect bluetooth manually every single time, the speakers turn off and don't wake if you pause a show, and if you forget to manually connect bluetooth, you will be greeted with a blast of incredibly loud static. I HATE these and have so much resentment that I paid this much and got technology so pathetic. My vizeo sound bar never had this issue, so ... what's the excuse? Double resentment over their "common sense issues" so-called help article about known connectivity problems that tells you nothing to help but also tries to gaslight you that their total fail product is actually your lack of "common sense."
I have a HT 5.1 and have had these R-51M as my L/R mains, for a couple years. I have a near field listening distance that is 6 feet from the mains and 4K TV. I also have their R-15M and my side surrounds and their 10" subwoofer. I found at my listening distance of 6 feet, the R-51M sounds better with them pointed directly out into the room. I like speakers with a sharp and precise DD surround sound for MOVIE and TV listening. I do have their RP-400C center channel, but prefer the PSB Imagine XC. My AVR is a Denon S-960H. My HT basement room is 8 X 12. I highly recommend Klipsch R bookshelf speakers.
These speakers are great. They have fantastic response and detail and will work well in most any application. I found them to be a bit heavy in the high frequency output, but I was able to offset that with equalization.
