The Hue Wall Washer has been great

I have two sets of these and these are absolutely amazing to have on the sides of my tv's. Don't be the idiot who didn't think you needed the Hue Sync box to use these with tv's. I have these setup in white for my tv in my living room with the Hue Sync 8k and then black ones in my basement with the 4k Hue Sync box. I have easily over 5k worth of Hue lights in and outside my house, plugged in, attached to hardlined power, 5 bridges (we're gamers and movie watchers) and you need a bridge per sync which is totally fine. It can be pricey depending on what you're buying but its worth the money, i've had Hue lights for years and still have yet to have anything break or die on me. Went on a rant but don't down rate the lights if you don't know what you're doing or don't research properly. I did that once and i got the rail with a rail bar and didn't realize you needed a power box for it...did i rate it a 1 start nahhh because that was on me and so i got the power box rail thingy and guess what the rail bar light behind my tv lights up and does the things because i have the hue sync. Sorry the person who complained about the hue sync box sucks.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Wow, it sounds like you've built an incredible Hue setup over the years! We're thrilled to hear the Play Wall Washers have been such a great addition to your TV setups and are helping create the immersive experience you're looking for. Thanks for sharing your experience, and that photo really shows off how beautifully the lighting transforms the space.
Promotional video doesn't say anything about requiring a sync box to work with the TV. Pretty much useless for smart TVs that require no external input. By the way, that sync box cost more than one of these lights.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We're sorry for the disappointment. We understand your frustration regarding the need for a Hue Sync Box to sync lighting with TV content, particularly when using a smart TV without external devices. Please reach out to our support team through the following link: https://www.philips-hue.com/en-us/support/faq#contact, for further assistance and guidance on getting the most from your setup.
If you’re already invested in the Philips Hue ecosystem, you’re going to love these Hue Wall Washers. The ColorCast technology really takes the lighting experience to another level. Compared with the Hue Play lights, these are significantly brighter and can produce up to 1,035 lumens of white or colored light.
The build quality is premium, with one exception: the included cord feels surprisingly cheap compared with the quality of the light itself. The Wall Washer features a sleek matte aluminum finish and directs its upward-facing LEDs to create a broad, even spread of illumination. The ColorCast projection technology produces beautiful gradient lighting that can cover an entire wall.
One thing I really appreciate is that you don’t have to worry about the light reflecting directly onto your TV. I recommend placing the Wall Washers approximately 8–11 inches from the wall to achieve the best color saturation. Because the light is angled upward, you can create a beautiful wash of color across the wall behind your entertainment setup.
The Hue app also gives you excellent control over the lighting. Using an intuitive 3D drag-and-drop interface, you can precisely adjust the light’s position, intensity, brightness, and color to create the effect you want.
They also sync seamlessly with the Hue HDMI Sync Box and Hue Sync apps, allowing the lighting to react dynamically to your favorite movies, TV shows, and music. They’re also compatible with popular voice assistants, including Apple Siri, Amazon Alexa, and Google Assistant.
The price is definitely on the higher side, but Philips Hue has created something special with this new ColorCast technology. Philips Hue has also announced a generative AI assistant coming later this year that will add another layer of personalization to smart lighting. Users will be able to type or speak prompts into the Hue app—such as “Create a scene for a festive Christmas party”—to generate new lighting scenes or receive suggestions based on existing options. The assistant is also expected to allow users to fine-tune brightness and color settings across their lights, with additional automation, scheduling, and in-app chatbot features planned for future updates.
I highly recommend purchasing the two-pack rather than a single Wall Washer. Not only is it a better value, but having two lights allows you to create a much more immersive and balanced lighting experience. You really need both to fully appreciate what these lights can do.
