A fantastic basic grinder with a handguard.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After I have seen the reliability and toughness of my first DeWalt set I decided I needed to get a new grinder that was battery powered so of course I went with the 20 volt Max.
I chose this grinder because it has been around a long time and I actually liked the handguard instead of a toggle switch. As a person who uses a tool and then throws it in the bag having a guard over the switch I believe is a good idea.
Of course I have made it a practice to remove the battery before I put it back in a bag or chest just in case in transit a button doesn't get pushed and then you run the battery down or grind a hole in the side of a bag... hint hint, experienced this personally. So far I usually use this grinder for the serious tough jobs of gas riser and valve maintenance, grinding off coatings, rounding tops of T post and the longest job that I do that makes this thing run for 30 minutes or more at one time is Bush hog blades.
I have 6 ah and 5ah batteries so this thing will grind longer than I want it to.
This set came with another charger which I desperately needed since this may DeWalt tool number 6 and now I had approximately eight batteries. This along with some of my other tools are used almost daily at work.
My last hint is going to be that I always mark up my tools to look a little different not just stickers but spray paint stencil and most importantly I paint the yellow on my DeWalt bag black so when it is in the back end of the truck in the camper shell and someone glances in or even uses a flashlight to look through the dark tent can't distinguish it from anything else in the back of the truck. The bright yellow DeWalt is a good advertisement for them and also a good advertisement for thieves looking for a quick grab.
Not associated with this review is not only dark window tint on my camper shell but also epoxy chicken wire on the inside that if they decide to bust the glass has one more obstacle so it's not such a quick snatching grab like so many of the thieves are doing nowadays.

This grinder is great!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this grinder! I have had it for 3 weeks and used and abused it daily. I've cut out metal basement window frames, cut tile, cut cast iron, nothing has proven too much for it. The cast iron cut did use up a couple batteries, but that is not a negative on the tool, it's just a tough job. I would definitely recommend this grinder to any pro looking for a portable yet powerful cordless grinder.

Great tool for on the road welders

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a traveling welder and do-it-yourselfer this is one of the best cordless grinders I’ve ever used. Perfect for the hard to access spots where cords are too short or hard too navigate. I pair it with a 60 volt flex volt battery for all my rebar and round rod cutting.

Convenient, but some limitations

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this grinder a few years ago, and while I found the cordless aspect very convenient, the battery needed to be replaced more frequently that I had hoped. Additionally, I continue to have difficulty securing a metal cutting wheel. The collar when tightened doesn't hold the wheel in place so I end up stacking 2 wheels in order to lock them down.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

More power

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use all my dewalt cordless tools daily and am not gently on them by any means. The 20v max cordless grinder out preforms other cordless grinders I have used in the past. A feature I most like is that it doesn’t have a shut off when it senses a slight bit of pressure. I can power through rebar, nails, polish granite counters, cut concrete and granite... I’ve ran my grinders hot for hours and my first one I bought is still running after 7 years of hard use. If a normal home owner/ hobbies bought any tool from the dewalt cordless line I don’t think they would ever need to buy a kit again for the rest of their lives. Their grand children would be using them as I still have some old plug in dewalt tools from my grand father.

Great For Quick Repairs.

Its not my main grinder i have a corded one for most of my uses (tile) but most definitly the cordless one is great for a quick repair.

Reliable grinder

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this grinder when I was in a bind and it has more than paid for itself in the time I've had it after that. I've used it alot for many purposes when I couldn't use my corded grinder. It has held up to all the abuse I've put on it and works just like the day I bought it. The only downside I've seen it it drains even the 20v max batteries quicker than I would like. But that's a minor issue and its still a great product

I use this in an industrial diesel shop. I’ve cut thru 1/2” steel!! Plenty of power for any application. I’m completely satisfied with this purchase and saves me from grabbing an electric or air line! So convenient.
