So far, so good
on January 9, 2023
Posted by: Jaymz
I was worried about this product overheating since it's a plastic enclosure, but it seems to be doing fine. It does heat up a bit, but not so much that it burns my fingers if I touch it. I would recommend the next line be a Cruzer Fit-type that have metal enclosures and have six heat vents (two standard on top and two on each side) that help with dissipating heat.
Cruzer was a great line, but lacked in speed being only 2.0 and only having a storage capacity of up to only 64GB.
A Cruzer "3.1," if you will, should have the metal enclosures and six heating vents like before, but be 3.1 and have a storage capacity of up to 512GB.

RUNS VERY HOT!
on March 2, 2025
Posted by: Swarley
Runs 130 degrees F! Trying to remove it from port will burn your fingers.
After it heats up, performance drops off.
Response from SanDiskBy SM OLSMay 12, 2025
Sorry to hear about the overheating issue-130°F is definitely higher than normal for regular use. Performance throttling can occur if the drive gets too hot, but it should not be unsafe to handle. Please unplug the drive and contact our support team at: https://support-en.sandisk.com/app/askweb so we can investigate and assist you further.

Poorly Designed - Beware
on August 20, 2021

This device is poorly designed. It is not low profile and sticks out of your device by ~1cm (between 9 and 10mm). Because it hangs out so far and has a big lip for a lanyard it is very easy to lose in the day-to-day (I had it pop out while removing my laptop from my bag). Furthermore, the shape of the plastic is tapered instead of squared, so if you drop your device and it lands on the drive, the drive will ream into your USB port and kill it, which happened to me today.
SanDisk should make / you should buy a drive that has a square end on it. That way if your device is dropped, the load of the fall is transferred to the device case instead of the USB port. If you look at the GALAXY of products there is a proper FIT.

Plastic
on November 28, 2024
Posted by: nobler
My favorite "thumb drives" are the old USB2 Cruzer Fit. Metal frame, and a place for a lanyard (or just a loop of fishing line) which is part of the metal case, so when you pull it out, it doesn't come apart. These new ones stick out too far, and they are plastic (not durable). By comparison, the Samsung "fit" drives are HUGE, but they are metal and I have not had any problems with them. So SanDisk, bring back the form factor of the old USB2 Cruzer Fit units and I might buy some.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Read/Write mode
on April 8, 2025
Posted by: Kjelle1900
I use it for Mp3-files in my car and it worked well. Then I decided to change Mp3-files so I deleted the files and started to download new ones and suddenly during the process it changed to read-only mode without I`ve done anything. Now I can`t use it because I don`t how to change it to write-mode again.
I hope you understand what I mean. My english is not perfect.

Cheap low quality plastic housing
on December 27, 2021
Posted by: LewisMB
The plastic cracked with very little use. I hardly use it and keep it on the key chain in my pocket, exactly what it's designed for. One day after about a year and half, pulled it out and found a portion of the housing broke off. Sandisk stated "misuse" and disqualified the warranty. Wouldn't buy or recommend this to anyone.

I bought this to store movies on and use in my projector for the kids while camping. My projector does not even recognize it's plugged in therefore nothing happens . Waste of money if I can't use it for movies in a projector!
