Bought this a week ago to help me get back into shape after being hospitalized for several months. The motion is smooth, like that you can get full motion of your arms. I am 6' tall and this seems to have full motion, but would rather it was a few inches longer. I see complainsts about the foot straps, but you can relocate them to the lowerr slots which hold your heals down. HOWEVER: After one week of use, the piston has started losing pressure/resistance. First time was at 199 strokes. The next day at 180-some strokes. Seems to be a flaw in the piston. I only have it set at "6", so it should not be failing, especially since I only move at a moderate pace
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I searched for a rowing machine on the Web. I found this one and checked the reviews. I liked what I saw and ordered it. It arrived in a very reasonable amount of time and in good order. The instructions for assembly were clear and the machine went together without difficulty. I have used the row machine enough to see that it is sturdy and performs to my great satisfaction. I needed a replacement for a handlebar tip and it was not quickly received but I could use the machine without it. Customer service was good and pleasant.

This is exactly as advertised. My husband & I are both using it with ease. It is especially useful for my husband, who is recovering from knee surgery. This allows him some exercise that is low impact, and allows him to gradually regain strength and flexibility.

I bought this item recently and was impressed with its sturdy construction and how easy it was to assemble in a short span of time. Since it relies on a hydraulic mechanism as opposed to other row machines offering water, air, and magnetic resistance, it's not quite consistent in the resistance in my experience with it. When I pull the handles back to begin a workout, it's rather stiff, but after 10-15 minutes the resistance lessens making it easier to pull back on the handles. I would sometimes have to adjust the settings to compensate. But you have to be careful not touching the hydraulic piston on the underside of this row machine as it gets very hot to the touch.
The foot pads do not offer heel support to keep your feet (heel-end) anchored properly even with the pedal straps securely fastened. I've had to follow the advise of another customer, who bought this machine too, to buy and jury-rig (or jerry-rig) something to keep my heels and the rest of my feet anchored to the pedals while conducing my workouts with this device. Even with my the straps tightly secured, I find my feet slowly slipping off the bottom lip of the foot pedals. Reference attached picture.
I like the fact that it can sit up for storage. It's light enough for me to carry but I do wish they had caster wheels on the front end (where the foot pedals are) of the supporting brace where you can lift the machine and roll it away as opposed to carrying it.
Because it uses the hydraulic method, it's much quieter than other row machines using air and water resistance.
Overall, it's a good starter machine if you are looking for something quiet, low impact, and inexpensive.
I would recommend this to a friend!
