I owned a few other radios and this Tivoli Model One is my favorite. Mine is in a solid black color. The wire antenna picks up my favorite NPR stations, whereas another model I owned (different brand) with a steel antenna was not nearly as reliable. It could be the quality of the tuner, but antenna placement/accessability is a factor too.It can be played very loudly, but I never really had it up to great volumes. The plug has no cumbersome adapter, which makes it all more space saving.Good sound, good looks, and a great little radio overall. If a radio can make you happy, then the Tivoli will.
I was afraid I wouldn't find a simple radio that had good sound but this baby has it. I think it sounds as good as my Bose Wave table radio. It is good looking, has good reception and small.
You can not beat this radio for the price.Sound is great and the stations stay on track. If you treat this radio right, it will probablylast you a lifetime.
I have a stereo system and I don't need to use it during the day and waste energy because of this radio. I just use my Tivoli radio. I bought the black model which fits in with my contemporary kitchen. I didn't want a radio with a clock because my stove and microwave have clock...How many clocks do you need in a room. I love the sound and I can hear FM from my kitchen in all my rooms of a 2 bdrm condo. The FM reception is super and the sound is fantastic. The AM reception is great so I can listen to the news without consuming energy from a TV. Great product and could not be happier.
After years of playing the XM and Sirius radio game, I realized that I no longer felt good about paying to listen to satellite radio commercials. My office is loaded with computer gear and I was a bit concerned about this unit and its FM reception. Plugged it up and in two minutes had the external antenna plugged in that is supplied with the unit. The tuning was flawless and the sound is nice and warm. Perfect for my office. I felt almost childish discovering the joy of free FM again... with less commercials than I was paying for on Sirius. Great job Tivoli.
I have the Tivoli PAL and Songbook. Those are great. The PAL battery is not too hot, but the sound is great. So I bought the Tivoli Model One radio. One for my inlaws and one for me. The AM reception stinks. The PAL AM is fine. Not the Model One radio. Would not work well in our kitchen. Any other radio was fine. I emailed Tivoli and they recommended the AM antenna. No luck. That did not help. I live in the Seattle area, not "way out there". So I gave mine away (along with the AM antenna) as it was too annoying. I felt better knowing somebody else may like having it. Looks nice.:)Oh, the Model One FM was OK, but not as good as the PAL. My father in law uses his occasionally. I should have bought him the Songbook or the Sangean PR-D5P Portable Radio (real happy with that and it has RDS). I would get that instead of a Tivoli next time. But the PAL is slick, but those batteries just don't last. :) I had thought the Model One would be as good as the PAL. Oh well.
My condo unit does not get good reception so it was hit and miss when it came to listening to my favorite programs. This Tivoli is amazing: superior reception, and so easy to operate; on/off/am/fm knob, volume control knob and spot-on station selector set in a small, square, sturdy modern box, beautiful, unfailing sound. I LOVE it.
