After reading reviews of the Tivoli Model One for several years, I finally purchased one through website. I bought it for my home office; it now sits at the right corner of my desk. Let me be brief and to the point: The build quality is sensational. From the solid wood case to the three knobs which exhibit absolutely no wobble or backlash, this table radio is in a class all its own. Tuning with the 5:1 geared drive reminds me of the great analog short wave receivers of the 1960's and 1970's! And the sound is amazing given the diminutive size of the radio. No, there is no digital frequency display. And there are no bass or treble controls. But even with those omissions, this is the best sounding (and best built) AM/FM table radio I have ever used. I can't say enough good about it, and I'm really pleased I purchased one. Whenever I'm at my desk, the Model One is on!
For all of You Dirty Dancing Commercial People, this is it.

I have to give a caveat: we saw this on TV on the United Health Care Commercial "Dirty Dancing" and thought it was amazing. What I wanted folks to know, is if you saw the commercial and wanted to know the name of the brand of the radio, this is it. Solid state and well built. I am a bit of an audiophile. Good company and good sound.
This is my second Tivoli Model One (my daughter has the first). Their reception and sound are top rate. Tuning is very precise. The provided inputs and outputs make it extremely versatile. Far superior to the less expensive battery-powered radios. Highly recommended.
Great sound at a unbelievable price when you consider what the Bose' cost. A few months after I brought my first one I ordered another as a gift for a friend. She's as happy with it as I am.
I resisted buying this for a long time because I couldn't quite see a place for it: it's not a clock radio for the morning, it has no special functions, and I already have a radio for the kitchen. Moreover, internet radio seems to be the future, with unlimited selection and reliable quality. However, when the price dropped, I suddenly worried that it would disappear. It is such a beautiful thing, I had to have it, having years ago enjoyed the similarly Kloss-designed Advent receiver and radio. And I'm glad I got it. It is in the living room, looking subtly great, and providing outstanding music from a local classical radio station. The sound somehow travels very well -- I can hear it down a short hall -- better than other speakers. Simple, beautiful, and very satisfying radio.Less than a perfect 5 stars only because the radio is made in China, despite the company's trumpeting of their Cambridge US 'base'.
