Great little radio. Wish it had presets, though. Seems crazy that you have to buy a high-end radio just to get decent tuning. Should be standard. Our cheap radios are horrible in that regard.
Original review is below. This is an update after we bought an Echo Dot:We recently bought an Echo Dot to use with the cherry Model One in our kitchen. It works great, allowing us to select our favorite FM channel (usually NPR news) when we come down for breakfast each morning and then throughout the day (usually NPR talk, classical, jazz, or blues). We like the kitchen Alexa setup so much we bought a second Echo Dot for my bedroom nightstand to use with the black Model One I bought a few years ago to use as a computer speaker. That setup also works great, so today I ordered a second black Model One for the nightstand on my wife's side on the bed. As a result, the Echo Dot and two Model One radios will replace the pair of Grace Audio Mondo ratios we have previously been using for bedtime music and wake-up news.Original ReviewWe have had this radio in our kitchen for years and we love it. Since we live on a hillside where we get very poor radio reception we use it as an internet radio with an iPod Touch and the Tunein Radio app. Last week I bought another Tivoli Model One, along with a set of Bose Companion 2 Series III computer speakers, to see which would sound better as a speaker for our desktop computer.Based on a direct comparison in our home, the Tivoli Model One had similar bass to the Bose speakers, even though it only has one speaker vs. the Bose' two separate bass speakers. The determining factor was that the Tivoli's higher frequency sounds were much sharper and clearer than the Bose speakers. I returned the Bose computer speakers and we now have an excellent monaural speaker for our desktop computer.
Amazing sound, look, and reception. I wanted something for my office so I could listen to sports radio on AM primarily and was about to buy something cheap just to slap on my desk and hide. I saw this, fell in love, and decided to spend for a quality product instead of a cheap piece that may or may not get good signal within my office building. My office is in the flight path next to O'Hare airport, so there are always planes overhead, but there is zero interference with AM or FM signal from either the planes, or the building using only the internal antenna. This radio looks and sounds so good that it is now prominently displayed on my desk and everyone who comes by falls in love with it as well. So glad I decided to opt for a good quality radio that I can be proud of instead of just getting something cheap that may or may not work and probably won't hold up as long. It was very hard for me to take this away from my home to put on my desk because it filled my house and sounded better than any of my other stereos.
