I have an older version of this radio, so I ordered this with confidence to give it as a Christmas gift.It has a sensitive tuner and a longer throw speaker to give a richer, deeper sound that you would notnormally get with the cheaper, box store clock radios. You get more fidelity and a richer sound, whetherlistening to the news with your morning coffee & toast or your favorite classical music station. The tuner isvery sensitive and pulls in the stations very clearly. I believe this radio is based on the famous Model One designedby Henry Kloss for the old KLH audio line of equipment.
Fair as far as the radio goes. Not very high quality in terms of audio, but again fair for the size, though not for the price. Definitely avoid the fake woofer that you can buy along with: no appreciable difference to sound quality.
Compact, easy to set up, great to look at, and sounds remarkable for such a small system. I have recommended this piece to just about anyone who wants to get a music/radio solution for their living room or bedroom. I want to buy another one!
Purchased for our off-grid cabin. With no utility provided electricity, the 12v source option was what eventually pushed me to this model. The ability to add external antennas is definitely a plus, but the ability to fine tune stations like no other radio is second only to the sound. Amazing is the only word I can use to describe the sound that comes from this little box. Sure, I have "reference" speakers on the dedicated vinyl system and FLAC for the car system that cost more than I would ever admit in public, but this by far is the best radio I have ever heard.
This is a fantastic little radio! I've got it sitting next to my bed, and the sound is easily enough to fill the whole room, I can hear it perfectly from my desk at the other end. The tuning knob is an absolute joy to use, and will leave you ruined for most other radio control panels. The included FM antenna leaves a little bit to be desired. It's just a length of wire with a coaxial connector on the end. Grab a solid antenna like
I absolutely love this radio. I couldn't wait to get it, and when I did, it was all that I had hoped for. All I wanted was a radio. No clock, no Bluetooth, no remote, nothing but a simple, good sounding radio. I love the simplicity, and the tuning dial is great. I can zero in on stations I never even heard of. I bought an extra antenna just in case I needed it, but I'm getting super clear reception just by itself. I am a huge NPR listener, and this is the perfect radio for me. Voice AND music comes out equally clear. I have a Bose Wave system, and I love it as well, but for simplicity AND good sound, I would seriously consider getting a 2nd one. It's compact, with no components to lug with me if I choose to use the radio elsewhere. If you are a home listener, as I am, you will be glad you picked this one.
