In a word: Sweeet! The Model One is hands down one of the Best Buy's I've ever made. The tuner pulls in weak signals, holds them, and reproduces sound very accurately.
I have an old 1970's KLH radio, which was the precursor of this Tivoli radio. The old one is still in very good condition, except that the foam rubber screen that it had over the speaker eventually deteriorated and had to be replaced. Partly because of the high quality of the old KLH, I decided to try this new radio. It's much smaller than the KLH, but I prefer the smaller size, which makes the radio fit into a wider variety of spaces. The sound quality seems excellent. The black ash model also looks very attractive next to my black computers. On the whole, this is the best basic table radio that I have seen. If that's what you need, don't hesitate to get it.
I finally got my hands on one of these. It is what I heard and more. A very nice design. The sound is a bit boomy, but still incredible bass from such a small radio.
Surprised by some of the negative reviews. I just wanted a super simple radio to listen to evenings and mornings in my bedroom and I am 100% satisfied with the Tivoli Model One. Of course, it looks great. The sound is excellent, if a tad bassy as some users have pointed out, and reception (using the built-in antenna only so far) is quite good from an interior room in my NYC apartment. I like the ability to fine tune a station using the big dial for even better reception - so retro! I also like the smooth, solid feel of the knobs and dial. Overall build quality seems excellent - heavy and solid. I have not noticed any problems with drift as some have pointed out. One issue - numbers on the dial do not exactly correspond to the station numbers. At first this was a little annoying but now that I know where my favorite stations are it is not really a problem. Very pleased with this purchase!
The internal antenna just wasn't cutting it in my house, and the tuning was off. I would have to add an FM external antenna and try that out, but for the price it just wasn't worth it.
