Great Concept, needs some refinement

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this saw and the first day out I immediatly noticed several issues/quirks: 1. The chain. We spend more time the first 2 hours putting the chaing back on rather than cutting. We have the 12" chainsaw of which is AMAZING so we were excited for the pole saw...definityly NOT the same quality of saw. We work with chainsaws all the time and that chain just won't stay on no matter how tight we adjusted the tensioner...all the other saws worked great out of the box, but not this one!
2.The connections on the pole are not very strong and the spring button holding it together fell out and I lost it. The saw has a tendancy to twist when cutting making it hard to saw through items over your head. Also the saw it heavier that anticipated...about the same as a gas powered saw.
3.Starting seems to be tempermental....imaging your up on the ladder, reaching the 12-14 foot up ready to cut, so you pull the trigger and the saw won't start? Happend several times to the point of being annoying.
Maybe we dont a lemon...we will be contacting the customer service under the "warranty" to see if this maybe the case. We will update the review accordingly along the way.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello Bonus68. Thank you for the detailed review. We are sorry to hear of the issues have experienced when using the 80V 10" pole saw. Here you will find a few operational tips in the hopes they provide a better user experience. When cutting a limb that is under tension be alert for spring back. When the tension in the wood fibers are released the spring loaded limb may strike the operator and/or throw the pole saw out of control. New chain tends to stretch; and it is recommend to check chain tension frequently. Chain tensioned while warm may be too tight upon cooling. Check the “cold tension” before next use. Follow instructions for lubricating, chain tensioning and changing accessories. Improperly tensioned or lubricated chain may either break or increase the chance for kickback.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I own several of their tools and have been happy with them all so far. When I read about this product I noticed that some complained about the chain falling off the bar constantly. Mine came with the chain already installed and I assumed that it was ready to go. My second cut, sure enough the chain fell off. After checking I found the tension screw was loose, what happens when you assume. I put the chain back on adjusted tension properly and the unit has been performing flawlessly ever since. The hedge trimmer works just as well.
Pros: Easy to Use, Effective, Powerful

The chain comes off with every cut.It is also very heavy and unbalanced when extended
Response from greenworkstools.comBy Greenworks, June 17, 2025
Hello Billy$$
We understand that the weight of the unit is not ideal, and we are sorry to hear that it is causing you some dissatisfaction. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention The chain will need to be tensioned periodically during use as sawing is a high friction use, high friction causes materials to heat up, chain is metal. Metal expands when heated, chain will need to be re-tensioned to account for this. If you are facing any difficulties, we encourage you to review the attached video. It may offer a solution to your problem. You can access it here (https://youtu.be/rFsPTdG82nM). If you ever have specific questions or concerns about our products, contact Greenworks via Live chat on our website (www.greenworkstools.com), call us at 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS) or refer to the FAQ ask section of the tool or ask us a question, anytime.

I bought the 80V Pro Max 10” pole saw. It worked only a few times until the chain wouldn’t cut. I tried to order replacement chain and they don’t have any available

The products work well. No gas, no pull start, no loud noise, always starts! I have been using this 10 foot tree saw to limb up the trees around my house. Although a but heavy at the head, the saw works great and has saved me a lot of money. Limbs from trees were covering the grass in areas creating dead spots in my yard. Quick, easy, cost effective solution. I now have the 80V chain saw, leaf blower, weed eater and tree saw along with two regular batteries and one extended battery and am all set! Very happy!

READ THIS - Misleading Product Description!!!
on May 9, 2022
Posted by: LLAN
from Maryland
The product description includes the following: "8' extension pole for a maximum reach of 11 feet." However, the "extension" pole IS NOT an extension pole, it is a fixed length pole. The "maximum reach of 11 feet" implies there is a shorter (minimum) reach -- there is not! There is no way to remove any section of this pole (the wiring runs through all 3 pieces). Really misleading!!! This is an 11 foot pole. Period.

Hello LLAN,
Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. We are sorry to hear that you felt the description misleading. The extension poles only have a fixed length and are not adjustable. While the handle on this model cannot be shortened, we would like to refer you to our 40V model, 20672, or our 60V model, 1405602 as they have a removable middle extension. See links below.
Should you have any further questions or warranty needs, please feel speak to Greenworks Customer Care directly 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS). They're always happy to provide help.
