Struggles to detect black furniture

NOT recommended if you have a lot of dark/black or reflective material furniture!
I've had my new X40 ultra for less than a week, and it consistently fails to detect black chair legs, table legs, and bedframe. It doesn't just lightly bump them either, but rams into them at full speed.
Quite disappointed because aside from this one thing, the other functions perform phenomenally - vacuuming, mopping, edge-cleaning, self-cleaning, room mapping, user-friendliness of the app, and identifying and avoiding objects that are NON-dark coloured.
Will try using light furniture "socks", but if that fails, I will be returning it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

The Dreame X40 Ultra performs impressively—quiet operation, strong suction, accurate obstacle avoidance, and very effective mopping. The auto-lifting mop on carpets and the self-cleaning/drying base make daily cleaning effortless. A great robot for the price.”

3 years warranty

Repeat customer as I already owned D10 Plus Gen2 and bought this for the main floor. Kudos to the support team during few hiccups on the beginning of setup. They provided very good assurance and guidance on the resolution. Double suction power compared to D10 and the mopping head is spinning type instead of dragging for personal preference. I want to point out it comes with 3 years warranty and not 1 year warranty showed on BestBuy website.

Solid Upgrade

I switched from the Narwal Freo X Ultra to the Dreame X40, and so far, it’s been a noticeable improvement. The suction power is stronger, and it picks up more debris, especially on carpets. It also does a better job cleaning along baseboards because the mop pads actually make contact with them.
The extended brushes and mop arms help reach under furniture edges, around table and sofa legs, and in tight corners. This is something my previous robot didn’t handle as well.
The built-in camera is useful if you want to check in remotely, and it’s convenient if you have pets at home. The base station works as expected and takes care of emptying the dustbin automatically.
The only downside I’ve noticed is that the vacuum is louder at maximum power compared to my previous model. However, the increased suction seems to justify that.
Overall, it’s been reliable, functional, and more effective than my previous robot vacuum. So far, I’m satisfied with the purchase.
