I have been using H&R tax software for years. This year I ran into issues where the SW stated I could not e-File my return because the calculation for the premium tax credit (8962, line 24) and the self-employed health insurance (1040 Sched 1, line 17) use the iterative method. However, this worked last year. Also, the need to directly edit Form 2210 Schedule AI is a very poor implementation to enter data
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The software is pretty good but it lacks in explanations of certain categories. Basically, some of the explanations are useless and even more confusing than the actual "question".
It is handy to be able to download the information from previous years especially if you have depreciation from a property or a loss carryover.
Overall, it is good and I will continue to use it unless I need an accountant. I think I have used it for close to 20 years, I suppose that means I am mostly happy with it.

Reliably inaccurate

For three years now, H&R Block has been inaccurate on my state taxes and I get fined for not paying enough in taxes. It's about time I call it quits with this software and try a different company.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund
