This year’s version simply did not work. I’ve used the product for at least 20 years without problems, but this year it was terrible. It did not calculate many of the things it should have, it did not interface with the state, the telephone support was laughable.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I’ve used H&R Block for several years. Always been happy with it but 2025 was a little different. Couldn’t file this year until the April update. Had issues when checked for errors and couldn’t clear them. Non critical so filed anyway and IRS rejected it on a different issue. Just minor when I answered a question wrong. My correct answer didn’t clear the wrong answer in the software. I manually fixed the answer and IRS took it on the second submission.

It has generally worked .. but I do not understand why (1) it was not on Massachusetts recommended list for years, (2) carryover losses are not made easier to clearly see given the extra software costs for a version of the software that handles trading and (3) claims to help if you get IRS questions leading to an appointment at a local office where you hope to get help on questions many users are getting and where they simply say hey we dont use that software and then give you little help beyond looking at the IRS letter... bottom line they do not give you access to anyone who can really stand behind the software.
Pros: Easy to import documents

I’ve been using H&R Block-Premium for several years now. It’s a pretty good product and does the job for me. My main complaint is, that it should be easier to view the forms (as they’re created, behind the scenes) during the “interview” questions that it asks, and it could have better explanation of some of the terms in my opinion.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents
I would recommend this to a friend!
