PA-40 Schedule E is directly copied from the 1040 Schedule E. The PA-40 Schedule E needs "Description of Property" in item A, but we could not be able to modify it, and we cannot input it in the interview for 1040.

Bug fix very late and not supporting amendment

I bought and used the Premium version and unfortunately filed the fed return by mid March 2026. The Premium version at that time has a bug in NIIT calculation and resulted in a higher tax. After receiving refund and out of curiosity I clicked download and install update in early April 2026. The newer version automatically fixed the already-filed tax numbers, not giving a warning or chance to generate a 1040-X. I ended up having to fill a 1040-X manually and using the Premium only as a formatting and e-filing tool.
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund

Great Except For State

Makes doing taxes much easier. Would give five stars, but don't like the fact that after paying extra for Premium software with state tax preparation it does not allow even one free state tax electronic filing.
Pros: Easy to prepare

I have used H&R Block tax software for many years. I find it meets most of my needs but leaves me to do some of the work that I think could be included in the program such as investment calculations and explanations for why some income is taxed at a different rate than others.
