I have used H&R block tax software for 8 years or so. I found this years version to take more time to complete with more questions; especially my state return. I found I had more questions that I had to look up outside the software and it was far too time consuming. It seemed the main reason I buy software in the first place and do my own taxes was disappearing, and will consider taking my taxes to my tax guy next year because it took too much of my time. There should be more "explain more" or "learn more" tabs in the state program so I could clarify questions quickly and move on. Overall, a disappointing year for tax software performance, though I was able to complete a good return in the end.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Double charge when I submitted the Federal and State taxes. The software was update and resubmitted the file with additional fee charge again for one return.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Time consuming

I used the product last year and was very pleased with the use of the 2024 software and finding answers to my questions or issues. This year, it is like working in a black hole. I had to delete certain forms, since it came up in the review, when I tried to remove an item, it was not allowed, and there was no link to the form that the information was coming from. So I had to delete the entire form and start that form new. Very disappointed with the 2026 software. I think next year it might be back to TurboTax.

I've been using for years, but seems like the last few years the detail and thoroughness is getting worse. One example is that this year I got flagged for a problem at the end and neither of the questions that I hadn't answered were ever address during the interview. Also the Okla state interview is lacking and instead of providing forms like extimated tax, the program just said, "go to this OKLA website - we don't provide"
