Simple and efficient

Unlike other popular Tax software, acquiring the H&R online was straightforward and relatively simple. It did not seek to redirect me to a complex process; nor appear to do unnecessary marketing. I selected the needed product from an available list, elected the download option and made the payment. Completed the federal tax. The system validated accuracy and took me through the IRS upload steps. I have used another software over the years. It is an excellent product, however, every tax season I have the same problem -- logging into an account, selecting download etc etc, but go into the "Start then pay" cycle which is frustrating. This year, I turned my frustration to action, switching to H&R. I love it's simplicity, allow the options I needed as the customer, and simplify filing my taxes.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast

I've used HRB Basic software for a number of years, while working full time and now as a retiree. The process of downloading the SW, using the SW, and filing a federal return has worked well for me. I like the e-file option as I get conformation that my return was accepted by the IRS and time stamped with a confirmation code.

Added W2 which I did not have - lots of problems now filing amended etc - Will definitely go back to Turbotax
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund

Easy to Use

This software was easy to use. One thing I noticed, however, was that the check box on the 1040 indicating if your main home was in the US at least half the year was unchecked. I don't recall any question in the software about that. I did receive my refund, however.

This year with many a change .... went well -- no problem putting the work on hold for a day or three ! Able to down load files to the hard drive and save on local desktop. --AND-- was able to file early for TxYr-2025.
