Been using H&R Block Basic from its inception. Being able to import previous years data is a plus. Collecting the necessary data to input is the only delay in doing one taxes. After receiving the last piece of data, the time to enter the data and produce my completed 1040 form was right at 2 hours. The result was error free and accept by the IRS via E-file just 15 minutes later. Well short of the estimated 6-8 hours expected.

The software does a decent job of importing last year’s data into the current year. The interview style is mostly easy to follow and enter data. My issue with the software is when it conducts its Audit Risk Assessment when the return is complete. The software flagged three areas our return might trigger an audit, but no tax data had been entered into the software for those areas. The software said we had an increased audit risk for alimony paid. No alimony data was entered. The software said we had issues with our business income. No business income was enter.ed. It also said we had high medical insurance premiums for a business even though no insurance data was entered. These erroneous audit risks made me worried about submitting ou return to the IRS.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Time consuming
