Takes the dread out of tax filing

I've been using H&R Block software for five years now. It's so easy to use and makes the tax code simple to understand with easy questions and instructions. Just gather pertinent docs, enter information accurately and you have a flawless return, checked for accuracy, filed electronically, with an auto follow-up mechanism. Could be easier.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

I trust and like the software, however the notifications about when it is accepted or rejected by the irs isn't trust worthy

makes it easy

For years I have used this program and have never had a issue understanding it. Until this year and it was not this program that was new it was the Several forms for my house loan that was sold over and over. Called, got a person ( have to ask) and it was resolved in minutes! for me why bother to buy something else when what you got works great!
Pros: Easy to prepare
I would recommend this to a friend!

2nd Time State Program Was Missing

I have used HR Block software since it was TaxCut--30 years at least. I like the fact that most information is copied over from year to year to make the chore of tax reporting smooth and simple. I always buy the Deluxe + State product. This year again for the 2nd time when I got to the State tab, the PA State software was not there and I was asked to purchase it (again). I had to call Block, navigate around the obnoxious Bot, and finally get a human being. She did a thorough job of checking out the validity of my claim that I did indeed purchase the PA state software with the Federal and then sent me an email with a link to the .dmg file to install on my MAC. There is really no excuse for this and it's the reason you got only an 'average' ranking. I expect better of Block and the software should be seamless going from the Fed program to the State. Also on the state program, why don't you just populate the local Resident PSD codes instead of having me go look them up? You already have all the information from last year. Just another nuisance thing for me to contend with.

Cons: Time consuming

Basic is the Best

I have used H&R Block tax software for about 10 years. I have used Deluxe and Basic. Before that I used Turbo Tax. This is by far the best and easiest software to use. I like the way it takes you through each item and imports the data from last year. For retirees like myself with a fairly simple tax situation with income from investments and retirement funds and SS, this handles that and more. My only complaint is that the Basic software is more expensive from most vendors than the Deluxe software. Why is that?

Software problem

For the third time, I find an issue with the software, no one can fix. Also, the program gives you a way to fix it but the system will not allow the fixes. So, I must mail the forms vs. e-File. This is unacceptable.
Cons: Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Product has become overly complicated.

Product has become very complicated and not at all user friendly. AI query feature is essentially useless. Issuing product with known error in Form 8606 is unprofessional. I am a retired CPA and will be changing next year to Turbo Tax after 20 years with HRB. Download of all Brokerage transactions worked fine after difficulty in logging on to the broker account from HRB ( a lower case alpha letter in the PW needed to be upper case to allow the transfer - ie not required to be UC when accessing the Broker directly) and no help in determining why it was not working,
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
