Software has bugs.

I'm planning on using another software next year because Tax Cut does not properly compute the estimated tax penalty. Specifically, my 4th quarter estimate was paid on 2/4/26. Tax Cut computes the number of days the payment was late as 90 rather than the actual 20. My only recourse is to override the 90 with 20 and file a paper return or let the IRS compute the penalty. I believe I've had the same issue in prior years and it's still not fixed.
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It's so simple, I just answer the questions, it pulls info from prior year and I have already received my refund!
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

Easy to use as always.

This is my 6th year using H&R software. I have never had an issue as far as it is easy to use and reliable for correct tax information. This year I had one issue. I just received an email stating that the IRS accepted my return through the internet. It is February 11th and I already have received my refund because the return was transmitted over two weeks ago. Usually, I get the IRS confirmation within 24 hours.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents

Good Tax Software

I purchased the HR Block Deluxe + State software in late January 2026. I filed my 2025 return electronically on 3 February 2026 but I did not receive an email from Block until 11 February 2026 with confirmation that the return had been submitted to the IRS. I have used Block tax software for more than 10 years and I have always received the email within a few minutes to confirm that my tax return had been submitted to the IRS I was concerned I had entered an incorrect email address in my return but today's confirmation from Block removes those concerns. It would have been helpful if Block had issued a notice that they were having a problem with the return submission process.
Pros: Easy to prepare

After three updates the program still fails to recognixe withdrawl of excess contribution to an IRA
within the required time frame. Instead it assesses a penalty that is totally incorrect.
