Good value for money but poor extras.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this to replace a similar system I had; detachable sound bar with bass unit. My first impression was how solid it was built. It feels well made and that you could drop the speakers without doing any damage. The guide to setting up was simple and easy to follow. It's pretty much plug and play. The speaker and power cables are good. I did have a problem with the power cable plug. It gives you the correct plug according to country/region. Unfortunately although part of EU Ireland uses UK plugs, so I ended up with a two pin plug. Cables have a good length. You can easily set the speakers a good 3 meters plus apart. The Bass cable is at also at least 3 ms long. The main issue I has was the supplied ARC and Optical cables. These are generic quality and really not long enough. The display on the primary speaker is large and easy to see from a distance, which is a definite plus if you have poor eyesight. Everything you need to see is displayed when you make selections on the remote control. This is also well made, has a good positive feel and easy to use. It's also a good size. Sound quality: You don't buy an inexpensive system like this because you want to top of the line sound quality. Most people will buy this because the usual 4 seperate speaker surround sound is not an option, and they just want to improve upon their existing TV speakers. It certainly does that and more. Sound is crisp, you get a good 4.1 effect if you seperate the speakers far enough and the sound wattage is far more than most people would need. This is all supplements by the bass speaker with adjustable settings. Would I recommend this, yes. If you are are on a budget or just want to improve our viewing experience. Just remember it's not 5.1. I gave it 5 stars even with the poor cables that are supplies with it, as most people would replace these. It's well made, does and the job and it's value for money.

It gives clear and loud sound, with great spatial performance. Subwoofer has powerful bass strength.

It’s okay

I have to have the volume up to 50, just to barely hear the voices. If they only had a way to raise dialog clarity it would be a very good system. Something must be wrong with my unit because the back ground noise is louder than everything else.

Regarding the issue with the optical cable, could you please clarify whether the cable doesn't physically connect to the TV, or if it connects but there's no sound? Additionally, please ensure that the small protective caps at both ends of the optical cable have been removed before attempting the connection.

Simply fantastic.

I can't ask for more. 280w of simplicity, pure sound and ease in any connection (arc for TV and BT for smartphone). I can only congratulate ultimea. For an average house they don't need more. For a larger house I will test the 580w one.
