i have a paded floor . it was not thick engouh to hold chair up. it would not roll around. i wish the guy would have told me that. i would have got the one i needed. that is y people ask questions to make sure they get the right stuff

I returned the first chair mat I purchased recently from Staples as it was not thick enough and ordered a second thicker one. My desk chair rolls nicely on new mat which is placed over a carpet. I am pleased with new purchase.

Necessary evil purchase to protect rug

Protective chair mats are IMHO a purchase which is a necessary evil. Mats do not add to the decor of the room but I must say it goes a long way in protecting the rug surface from chair roller wear. Do tend to last years. Hope the material does not discolor over time.

This mat moves when your chair moves. No matter where you put mat in a matter of minutes it will have moved to a different location as you move your chair. It is so flimsy that my chair creates big valleys making it difficult to initiate a position change. VERY disappointed.
