I purchased this for use on carpet. It might be better for tile but it is worthless on carpet. It is so soft it melts into the carpet and locks your chair in place.

This pad will last less than a year if installed over a carpet with a pad underneath! Second one now has holes where 5 double casters on chair roll

The mat works well on my plush carpet. However it was dropped on my front stoop without packaging of any kind and the sun warmed and misshaped it. A pain to recoil and drag upstairs to the office. Disappointed in lack of quality in delivery.

It covers a bigger area and is less prone to have the chair wheels dig in and stop movement.

Expected Better for the Money

I was expecting a product that was thicker than the budget product it is replacing. I paid twice as much for this chair mat than the 2 year old one it is replacing. Time will tell. I will save the receipt and see what happens in the next year. If it cracks hopefully Staples will stand behind it.
