The chair mat was a perfect fir for my work area. It is made of sturdy plastic material and is holding up very well with the weight of the chair and myself on it. I recomend.
Carpet chair mat might work on hardwood floor - but too soft for carpet

On even a nearly flat carpet the chair wheels sink a bit into the plastic mat locking them into place so they do not roll easily. Would probably work fine on a hardwood or tile floor.
I should have listened to the review where they said the wheels sank into the plastic. It's just as hard to slide forward with the mat as it was on the carpet. I would not recommend this product. Product is too thin.
Purchased this last month and placed on top of what I consider 'normal' residential carpet (non-berber carpet). This chair mat is not thick enough plastic to support my office chair. After just a few minutes of sitting the chair's wheels create 'divots' in the plastic mat and after a few hours creates a memory of where my chair was. Spend the extra $ and get a thicker mat if you are going to place on top of non-berber (low profile) carpet.
I like his mat it’s serving it’s purpose by allowing my chair more movement at my desk. I took away a star because it came rolled up which meant I had to give it a few days with 2 heavy objects laying on each side to it it to not curl under while laying it down. I also took away a star because it doesn’t allow much movement on my carpet. If I sit in a spot too long my wheels get stuck and I can move unless I stand.
