This chair mat is a typical vinyl product. I purchased it for my recently renovated home office. Unfortunately with the thin vinyl material combined with the carpet padding the chair wheels leave divots in the mat and to a lesser degree the carpet below. I would only try using this mat over the thinnest of carpets without padding. Otherwise I would avoid it.

Perfectly designed for lower carpet piles. Thinner plastic with smaller holding nubs means lighter weight so it won't sink into your carpet and allows a lower price to boot. Win win chicken dinner ;-) .

This is a very poor chair mat. I have a flat pile carpet but the mat is too thin and my chair wheels are already making huge dents. It also moves around...I need to buy a new one already and this one is only a month old!

Had bought this to use on carpet with sewing machine. Was disappointed how thin the mat is left a light weight office chair on the mat in the same position for a few days. When I went to move it the mat had a deep dimple in it where the wheels were. Have concerns how long it’s going to last once I start sitting On The chair & moving around for a few hours.
