The short "cleats" while more comfortable to handle do little to keep the mat in place. The former mat was much more stable. The ad also mentioned a warranty but no such info came with the mat.

Not suitable for thick carpet

Mat is not thick enough for deep carpets. Chair sinks into indentations made by chair. Last mat lasted about 14 months and was thicker.

Warranty Designed to Fool You

Bought this because it has a "limited lifetime warranty." Thought at the time of course that "lifetime" means my lifetime. When I called Staples because the mat was cracking the customer service person politely informed me that "lifetime" refers to the lifetime of the mat not my lifetime. And the mfg says the lifetime of the mat is 3 years. How convoluted is that definition? So when buying understand that "lifetime" means "3 years." I asked them to stop advertising it as a "lifetime" warranty and instead say "3 year warranty."

I have owned several lesser quality chair mats over the years and they have all failed after a short period of time. This new mat appears to be very durable and is holding up to the use without cracking. I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend it to others.
